So i am playing a MTT for PCA giveaway , its a freeroll to a bahamas live game.
top nine get a ticket to next level, winner of that gets a free trip and registration to the live game.

the field is 1915 players i am running deep in the tourny, i made it to 22

how should i have played this hand

i am in early position blinds are 3000 and 6000, i have ace Q of. I have 125000 or so chips, the cheapleader has 250000, he is in front of me so he just limps in
I just call and 2 others come in to the pot also.

flop his 2 7 ace rainbow

chip leader raises 2bb, so i figured he had ace rag and my ace Q was best,so i just call, other 2 fold.

turn is 3, chip leader bets 4bb thinking my ace Q is still best i just shove remainder of my chips, he calls and turns over Ace 3. the river was a J.

1 Should have i raised pre flop with the chip leader in hand

2 should i have shoved all in after the flop

3 when the blinds are high i never no for sure what to do so please can some one give me pointers

Thank you and good luck on the felts

When blinds are big, very often chipleaders trying to stole blinds from players, which stack isn't to so big.
There is almost same possible, that he had 7 9 or A K for example.
You should't put all in before you see flop. I think the best move will be secound - all in after flop.

Raise preflop. AQo doesn't play well in a multiway pot, especially out of position.

so you won the hand? AQ playing over ace 3?

Firstly and most importantly,

we should never define a correct way to play the hand (in my oppinion)
It's dependant on your stack size, your bubble factor, your table dynamics
your table image and the blind structure.

for example I would fold Ace queen in early position on an active table when near final table. but I will often raise or even 3-bet J9/J10/KJ/89 suited from late position if my image fits the spot and the timing is good for me.

if ive been loose I'd rather fold those hands, than firstly risk a call and having to lay it down on the turn. (effect my image)

With regards to how you played AQ. Great : ) (assuming were heads up with big stack - we dont want limpers involved ideally)
I like the limp call behind the big stack as AQ is only marginal even if he shoved K9-K10 - your only 60/40 fave and its a huge risk you dont need when approaching mtt final table.

by checking you allow him to bet so you can pot control and get value, if he improves, has a monster, donks out. you only have to call the river assuming he doesn't shove.
This is the safest play against a big stack, you will be able to make plenty of steals from smaller stacks so thats where you will get your chips whilest waiting for your next big spot 'which will come'
ps dont target to small a stack as they may be forced to call) but yeh, I like the play their is no need to have a swing off with the big stack your playing well to be at 22nd and would be a waste to gamble your chance

I think that you should raised before the flop, regardless does the chip leader is involved in that hand or not. However, you never have to only call and let more players to be involved in that hand, when you have good cards like AQ, because if you make only call and let more players to be involved, then you have a little chances to win that hand.
