I was on full tilt on a play money table i had 200 in chips and the average was 2000 now remember play money i was dealt JA off and next thing i know i have two people telling me that i should not have gone all in with them to cards and that it was a very dumb move now to me one it is play money and two i thought it was a good move myself having only 200 in chips if i lost i could easily get more chips i have about 50k in play chips my question is do you think that was a crap move or am was that a good move????

good move

If u only had 200 hundred it was a good move in my opinion. Always better to make a move and lose than get blinded out, and that could be with any hand, so i think aj allin is a great move

Ring Game = top up your chip stack so you can play your hands properly!
Tournament = you don't really have much choice but to shove if you're gonna play it.. depending on what the blinds were at, at the time.

Ring game, SNG or Tourney? What were the blinds? What do you think the odds are of getting solid poker advice at a play money table?

now to me one it is play money

With this attitude you are wasting your time. The idea is to attempt to make the proper poker decisions regardless of the buy in.

It depends. :)

Have a look around the forum, there are some excellent strategy articles as well as a couple of threads suggesting what information needs to be included to get your questions answered properly. Good luck at the tables & enjoy. :)

One..this is a funny thread..And two..If its a tourny than yea you had no choice but to push..But usually when you have extra money at a ring table..Take it out..Its not good to let the other players boss you around with their stacks..Play Strong and Play Smart..And you'll be fine...Good Luck
Take care

If this was a real money game, you had 2000BB and that push was too extreme and a bad move as AA/KK/QQ/JJ/AK/AQ had you pretty much dominated and coinflipping against any PP below JJ.
So yes, it was a bad move if it was a real money game.
I know it was just play money, but your goal in a play money game is to learn how to play proper poker.

I think it was a good move to go all in there because once you get down to a low chip stack you have to make a move when you can because you don't want to just sit around and get blinded out. In my opinion once your stack gets that at Full-Tilt with play money, even you would have called someone would have raised anyway so you would have had to go all-in anyway.

If this was a ring game, what were the blinds? 10/20+ shove away. 1/2, just open to 8 or 10 or whatever the going rate is.

If this was a tournament, if the average chip stack was 2,000 then the blinds and antes are probably big enough to justify a shove from any position into any uncontested pot.

thats a fine move, especially in play money when people willl call you with crap. Now if you were on the bubble in a real money tourney, well actually i would probably move in unless there was like one more person to go. ITs always better not to get down to 200 chips! lol but it happens you made the right choice.

good luck on the felts

Well, to be able to make these decisions on your own in the future, a good idea might be to read the numerous articles on the various starting hands you get when playing No LIMIT Hold'em. The playablity of the hands depends on your table position relative to the dealer. The size of your stack compared to other stacks. How far the tourney has progressed and whether you are shortstacked and other variables including the playing tendencies of your opponents. GL
