If you mean software, I'd say Pokerstove (free).
If you have money to spend you could consider a tracker.

HM2 trial is for free, for 30days. After 30 days you can try to reset HM2 and still play with HUD. my advice is: you should download trial version and see if it is helpful for you.

The use of trackers etc can be useful. I personally don't use them, if I did it'd probably be Poker Office as I like to track my winnings etc. though it can be done with a simple spreadsheet. One day I may get some programs but for now I want to start funding a bankroll instead.

Hopefully I can plug this as well, but the free equity calculator in ace poker drills. It's way better than poker stove. Many more features, it can auto calculate ranges, set and save pre-loaded ranges, drag and paint ranges, etc...

I used poker stove for a lot of years, and got frustrated at the lack of options, so check it out: Poker equity calculator

Once you get rolling, then you'll need a poker database also.

It depends on your goals. If all you want to do is become a break-even player or a small winner at the lowest stakes, you can accomplish that without any tools other than reading forum posts. That said, your rate of improvement won't be nearly as rapid as it could be. That's fine if it's not important enough to you.

I'd suggest at least checking your local library to see if it has any decent books, plus there are free videos around as well as free trials of some training sites.
