Multitabling

I like probably most of you play multi tables or tournaments when online.

My question is though does this actually help or hinder?

This would be because I can't really say I'm fully concentrate on any 1 game and by this may not pick up on all the information available.

While it may just be me I would like to know if others feel the same or not.

I play ~5-6 tables at a time. I can play more, but I feel like that's my threshold for playing my best.

Get a HUD, it helps.

I typically will play up to 6 tables when playing cash but I'm not nearly at my best playing that many. S N' G's I'll only play a max of 2 b/c I play a very loose aggressive style in those vs. tight aggressive in cash games (requires less concentration).

If I'm playing Omaha, I will play max 2 just because the game in general is more complex than Hold Em.

In an unrelated note, programs like Hold'Em Manager and PokerTracker have things called Heads Up Displays that show statistics based on your hand history with the people at the table.
You see how often they enter pots, how often they raise pre-flop, how often they 3-bet, how often they fold to 3-bets, etc.
It it's based on enough hands, it'll give you a good indication of how the person plays.
For example, if someone always c-bets, you can re-raise bluff them fairly often. But if a guy only c-bets 30% of the time, you can give him credit for a hand.

I would say that having a couple of tournamens or four to six cash tables is not a bad thing. For me, those numbers are where I feel okay and can come out even or profit. When I have more than that open, I'm subject to lose. A lot!
Beyond not being able to keep up with the tells or habits of others a your table, mistakes can and will happen with too many tables open! I have clicked Fold to Any Bet after only hitting bottom pair on a scary flop with flush and straight draws. If I had been paying attention, I might have won some money as I hit runner runner to make quads. I won the blinds, but a min. bet would have caused me to lose with QUADS! I have also folded for bet by accident. Too many tables can definately bring problems.

If I'm on my desktop, I run 6 cash tables. Laptop I can only comfortably run 4 (no mouse, smaller screen, HUD doesn't run as well in VMWare Fusion).

SNGs, I love running 4 18's (turbo) at a time. These don't get too complicated until ~6 people left, and as long as your paying attention to your steal/resteal/shove spots, you're fine.

On a somewhat related note -- can't wait until PT3 Mac comes out. They said it should be coming out sometime before the end of this month.

IMO its a pointless question.

If the majority of people multi-table (which is your original assumption)

Then the majority of the answers to this question will be that it helps because if they felt it hindered they would stop doing it and then the initial assumption becomes false.

You might as well just have a poll "Do you multi-table, yes or no " and then simply assume that those who voted yes think it helps and those who voted no either think it hinders or have no multi-tabling experience.

FR 15+ tables quite easily, but that dies get pretty robotic check/fold poker, which i lose interest in pretty fast these days, 6 max im around 4-6 tables player focusing and not just playing the cards, as for sit n go's back in the day i used to play around 10+ and reload every time i got out..
