What is more profitable in the long run? Cash games? MTT's? or single table SnG's?

imo you dont tilt as much in tournaments as you do in cash games, right?

Do any pokerstar online pro's play online tournaments anyway? or do they only play cash games?

Also, which would you recommend? I feel like cash games are more profitable but when i play MTT's i get into the money a lot of the time but i've never tried single table SnG's.

also as for cash games i aim at 40buy-ins before i move up, how many buy-ins should i have for single table sng's and mtt's? 50? 100?

MTT's have the softest money at high stakes, but the variance is pretty large. Just about every serious gambler will play a few big mtt's a year.

Most online pros are cash players since the variance is reasonable, and its easy to get good action.

STT's have tiny tiny edges once you get above $30 buy ins.

Its most important though to play what you're good at. You can make gobs of money at STTs, even though its widely regarded as one of the games with the smallest edge.

I think ill spend 30$ playing 1.50$ stt's (20 buy-ins) and see how it goes. Would you recommend 6max (top 2 paid) full ring (top 4 paid) or fifty50 on pokerstars? (out of 10 players top 5 paid back their buy-in + i think its 0.11$ for every100 chips you have)

The more top heavy the tournament, the bigger advantage your skill will give you. But it will also increase the variance.

I myself would play 6-max. But thats just personal preference.

I'd recomend three things:

1) Only play SnGs with 10% rake or lower.
2) Use at least 30 buy ins rather than just 20.
3) Talk to Wizzim. He's the most active poster here that regularly posts good SnG advice, and he knows what he's talking about.

If you want to build a roll, you might find Double or Nothing SnG's profitable. They might bore you to sleep theres so little action, but if you can be patient until the blinds get up then get aggressive, you will do ok. I prefer cash games these days, but still play the odd DoN game to have a break from constant cash games.

The most profitable game is the one you win the most at, might sound obvious but there is no " most profitable " game for all players.
Give all games a try and find out which suits you best, if you are a recreational player find which game you enjoy the most, if you want to make money find the one you make the most money at, simples :D

Different types of games are better suited to different types of personalities and different play styles. That's a simplified explanation of why some pros stick to tournaments and others to cash. What would be most profitable for a theoretical person who is equally skilled at all types isn't all that practical a question.

Also, the difference in how much you make may or may not be worth it. In my case, being a recreational player, I mainly play for fun. Yes, making money is part of the fun, but it's not the only factor. Since I enjoy MTTs more than cash, I play them a lot more even though my hourly win rate is higher for cash.

i've just tried 2 fifty50 sng's and i think ill stick with cash games. Im good at MTT's with a big field (over 600) but not stt's or smaller mtt's. :)

Yo,

My advice would be to play the 45 man mtts just like boku did when he turned 10 bucks into $10,000 in 14 days. After you build up a roll play hu cash games. You can really do well for yourself playing hu. You get to have the fish all to yourself and make lots of monies.

Anyways, gl with what ever you chose.
