bankroll management is discussed a lot on the web and there is lots of information available. However, I have not found a source answering this: How to handle two types of poker from one bankroll. They seems to focus or the one or the other.

So. Do I need 2 sepearate bankrolls? Which seems silly to me in one account. Or, how do I treat my bankroll?

Thanks everyone.

Same bankroll. For me anyway. Same site, same check, same bankroll.

Good question, don't remember this in 10 years

For the most part sites only have one account, so you have no choice, in fact I can't think of a single site that would have multiple cash accounts.

HOWEVER! You could play on different skins against the same folks with 2 different rolls. For instance you could play ring from ACR and tourney's from BCP. Both are WPN, and share a cashier, so that may make it easier to deposit or withdraw.

So how many buy-ins you have for each?

In Cash Games it is easy: you play the stakes you're at! With MTTs it must be trickier: different buy-ins; different structures, e.g. rebuys.

How do you do bookkeeping? How do you know which game [cash or mtt] is running bad and has brought down your bankroll? Should you stepdown stakes in cash or play smaller tourneys?

The belief I have come here with is that essentially it must be in one bankroll. Rather, it's about the management of the double bankroll.

Thanks for reply. But yeah, it is a good question. Cos essentially what I wanna do is to have my cash game feeding my mtt game till I strike something substantial.

You just need one bankroll, but if you ever plan on entering a big tournament, you may need to deposit to take on the risk. Ill give an example like every once in a while ACR runs a million dollar tournaments, unless you satty in, I doubt hardly anyone's bankroll for tournaments can cover a 500 dollar buy in, unless your a high roller.

Let's say your bankroll is $300. You multitable NL10. You want to play maybe 2-3 $5 MTTs. What do you do?

register and play....as soon as you registered 3 MTT's for $5 each your roll is $285 instead of $300.....
Don't overcomplicate things....there's no strict rules....just what you feel comfortable with.
What you might want to do is for example, you drop down to $250, drop down in stakes....play NL5 and MTT upto $3.30 max....until you are back to $300 plus....KISS

Fair enough. Of course I thought of this, but it's the worst option to be honest. Less Rakeback when dropping stakes.

I guess when I fall to 30 buyin (or whatever I set minimum) I'll have to stop playing tourneys, until I build up again. No way am I dropping stakes, unless a bad swing hits and I have to.

Thanks for the tip.
