so, I was playing 6man SnG Turbo. Blinds were 80/160 and i had 1,200 chips. I was on the button so i thought i should bluff if and steal the blinds. everyone fold but this ONE guy who keeps calling and raising every hand he is in. I was in a hand with him a few times and to bluff him you have to raise huge. me and him are at the flop. i have about $1000 chips he has $2500. I hold 26 flop comes and its AJ6. He checks, I bet 500 hoping he would fold so i didnt have to take the risk. he calls, i go all in and he calls and wins with A7. was it a good move?. I keep coming across these people who raise huge all the time and reraise my huge raises then i might have two pair and end up being beaten. I had JJ at the start and I raised 4BB and he reraised to all in, should i have called that?

james they have books for this stuff & for me to answer your question here it'd take ~ a full book's worth of explaining. I'll try to keep it brief though... so here goes...

it was a bad move. Dont get into EGO battles against loose aggressive players. Wit till you have the goods an then just open jam. Esp since your so short. I assume this happened 3 handed and you were the bubble boy?

You should not risk it all there with 26.
You can try to steal from the button but not 100% of the time.
If you try to steal you should do it by raising preflop something like 2.5x and you should never limp there and just bet any flop.
In any sngs or mtts when you are down to 7bbs every decision is a push all in or fold. So no limping and no min raising there even with good hands.

The fact that he is loose doesn't make your 2-6 any better. Just fold pre and wait for a better spot.

Limping you are inviting him to call any post flop bet. Yup had little fold equity. 320 + 1040 1360 he is still left with he still has 1460 left

Just because you are on the button and short stacked doesn't mean you should bluff with just anything. At 7 big blinds the only move in your arsenal is to jam preflop. There are times when you should be jamming any 2 cards preflop, this is not one of those times. Fold that 26 and find a better spot.

With only a few BB you need to wait a good hand and shove not bluff or play postflop

Doing that with 62 is definitely a horrible move. And yes, calling with JJ against an aggro player is definitely a better move than shoving with junk on a flop that very well could've hit him.

It happens to me from time to time, when I'm trying to catch some maniac or idiot. But it's not worth it, I learned...

Man 2,6 is a really bad hand. I do think it's better fold pre and wait next hand.

Insta-fold with 2-6 here. You have to choose a pre-flop shoving range like any ace, pocketpair, suited kings, two face cards, 54s or better. Something like that. Don't wait for the flop to go all in when you've only got 7 BBs left.
