What is the most important thing to you when playing at the tables? I am very curious to hear what some things are that you pay attention to. Maybe I can begin to narrow my focus on while playing. Any help is appreciated.

Position and effective stack size. Acting last is probably the most important thing you can ever have at the table. Keeping an eye on stack sizes can prevent you from bluffing in the wrong spots (shorties get priced in and can't afford to fold sometimes) and let you know pretty accurately who the table fish are (the guys who don't reload).

Other things that I used to note frequently also included how often someone limp/folded v. limp/called and the range a person is willing to get it in with preflop.

What is most important to me at the tables is that I am able to make smart decisions. I would like not to be bluffed at all even though it does.. I will like to win a huge pot every now and again win small pots without showdown...

ops question is too wide open but position doesnt matter much early in freerolls on most US sites. Is disregarded by 90% of the field say on betonline lol

I have began to ignore it myself on that site for those events till almost in 3rd hour lol. So even though this is great advice question by op is too wide open to give advice cause of all factors involved styles play level what type of game etc..

Love how you do notes though interesting:) but each time I play I limp call limp fold differently myself based on circumstances of variance and what is going on with cards for me at that time.

I personally am person who wants to see all the flops I can so mix up play raising not raising I will limp with 67 as often as do with aa. Makes dangerous for aggressive players. Especially if out of that word position lol.

I change betting amounts will at times bet preflop a 67 suited same amount as aa.

Keep people guessing.

Well I don't play tournaments, let alone freerolls, so my advice was solely based on cash games.

well I hope sincerely you do very well at it.

I have to do the mtt's so can get big winnings grinding is just too hard takes too long etc.. I do honestly do both and since now have accounts in 30 ranges am playing some 02-04 cent ring and is making a difference when go on run have 8 dollar day say.

I dont play many hours and choose to ring late like after midnight for a couple hours daily because of my other poker schedule etc..

I am more of a tourney player can do ring but would def prefer live and is soo easy on boats near tampa is a joke hard rock might be harder but get there at midnight again and the pros are usually not there so generally easy money lol.

P.S. didnt look over your profile so assumed by handle you were american but guess you play tilt and live?

I would kill to sat into the tilt fcoop events lol is huge money in a lot of them and done very well in past. One lucky event could make a persons year lol.

Anyway again gl at the tables:) Also wasnt meaning to sound critical at all for anything you posted so if I did sound that way I apologize I go into idiot mode at times:)
was more how wide open op's posts not just this one usually are that bothers me and not critical of them just most of the time I am finding is not the real thing they are looking for gets explained later I am totally off base with what suggest talk about to them haha.

I tend to think of position being very important, but I am a pretty tight player as it is. It is just very hard for me to widen my range. Maybe if I can limp in late position with marginal hands it would be a little better for me to be able to see a few more flops. Guess being last to act you can get away with limping a few times just to see a flop and you can easily get out of the hand if you don't like the situation you are in.

Anyway I was just curious as to what everyones opinion was on the subject. I'm trying to elevate my game, but my roll at the moment just won't allow it.

Know you're time limit!

I used to start playing tournaments without considering the fact that even if I was doing well I wouldn't have enough time to finish the tournament. I might have to go to work or have another commitment to fulfill. I'm a little older and a lot wiser now. If I'm short on time I'll find a tournament where the blinds go up every 3 minutes. Generally they're completed in an hour and a half or less.

I like finding a table that is slow enough to take notes (cash games). Either by hand or on my ipad.

Not necessarily what the question pertains to as that is always a given. It's more of when you sit down at the table what is the most important thing to you when it comes to playing your game. To some I imagine that it is an any two card scenario where they want to see as many flops as possible and for some its the opposite. See few flops but get their chips in when it is good.

Position - because if you in late position and you play with not so good player you may bluf on them by betin.
If' its early - the same way or check and see what's be after it )

My cards. This is against all advise as I should be concentrating on what other persons cards might be, position, stack size, etc, but my cards still are the thing I pay attention to. It often gets me into trouble, as my top pair (A-A or AK with flop Ace gets globered by trips or a good drawing hand. Then with AA, I find it so hard to fold.

I like to watch the table watch the betting patterns who is raising and who will fold to raises bc you never know if you need to get a couple blind pickups it could benefit there make mental notes what he/she did at the time in hand ect.
