hey all

Thought I'd ask about a situation where I often lose chips and don't really know how to handle.

So, say I'm the pre flop aggressor with suited connectors. Flop comes and I get an open ended straight draw.
I would normally bet at that as a semi bluff hoping to hit my draw if I'm called. But if I'm called and I don't hit it, what do I do?

Do I just check it out and give it up if I'm raised?
Or should I continue to bet and try and win the pot?

I often find myself doing the latter. Raising on the flop and then checking on 4th and the river seems weak to me and just basically giving up, but betting often loses me some chips.

I realise a specific hand example would help so if I come across a situation ill post it. But hopefully I can get some advice anyway

This ^^^ it's amazing how often a c-bet works in your favor.

cheers guys.

The C bet I have no problem with. If I raised pre flop i nearly always bet at a flop, unless it's particularly scary.

The problem I have is when that bet on the flop is called, where do I go on the turn and river if I still haven't made a hand?

Do I continue to bet or do I check it out?

Depends on your reads on your opponents and stack sizes. Whats out on the board as well? What are you representing with your raises? Could you bluff the table with whats out there? Are your opponents calling stations or they reraise when they a monster?

So many questions you need to ask yourself, I'm not sure how often to double barrell but if theres a scarey board, sometimes it's scarey for other players as well and whoever gets the bet in will win the pot at times.
