I found playing 5nl that people enjoy putting in a big raise against min-raisers more than they do limpers. I found that a routine raise such as 3 or 4x BB can lead to me just getting the blinds when you have a monster like AA or KK , but when I min-raise someone usually tries to scare me off with mediocre hands. Even when I put a big 3-bet in they might shove with odd hands still thinking I'm weak.

How do people here interpret this play? Surely after a 3-bet you would think that the min-raiser had a monster and was trying to provoke some action... And how would this play go down in higher stakes with better players?

My question would be do you have a significant sample to support this? I may be unfairly judging here (which I often do :p) but I am inclined to say that your memory is getting the better of you.

I think the downside to min betting your AA is you get perhaps 3-4 callers, and after the flop you will often find yourself in big trouble.

Raise 4xBB and you will have probably 1 caller, and that guy will be committed even if he misses the flop.

Someone with 100bbs is committed after putting in 4? ^.^

Yes, on 2NL he will just keep calling with his JJ or whatever. On flop you bet maybe 15 BB, on turn allin. It happens quite often that someone will go through with that.

Yea they do that all the time at that level they are retards. They think they are good and trying to be clever. in my experience they do it with shit but you will also get the odd good hand. Ive mainly noticed that a lot of them dont know how to play Ak after the flop if they miss so preflop they re raise a lot to scare you away incase they miss. Just wait for premium hands and let them do the betting for you.
