I'm new to playing poker with real money, I have always known how to play, but just socially with friends or play money. So I read some books and played on the computer with play money (Huge waste of time, doesn't help you practice, probably just makes you worse). I had to eventually start playing with real money so I made a bovada account and put 50 in it. I started at microstakes and could only make like $1 an hour on one table playing tight aggressive. One of the things I've noticed though is that people almost always call you to the river. For example if I'm playing ak and my opponent is playing j5 and the flop come 5 8 k I'll put in a large bet because I just want him to fold. Then theyll just reraise me or go all in so I call them because I think I have the best hand but they hit their jack on the draw or the river. It's stuff like this that happens alot and the dollar it took me an hour to make is know gone. Am I wrong, are my opponents just playing good poker, or is microstakes just a nofoldem game. Also, how much money in 1 hour do you think you would make playing microstakes on 1 table.

Those players who do not fold are my favourite types to play. Of course they are gonna get lucky some times but that is okay because then they will keep playing the same way.

Microstakes cashgame is only profitable if u multitable. If cash game is u prefered game , play at least 3 or 4 tables in ur style and if u can stay to ur A-Game u will soon make profit. Otherwise its better to play Sng or tournaments on the lowsstakes imo

Absolutely, this is the best place to start and learn, just because if you lose your going to lose the least amount here. Its a great place to learn the fundamentals of the game. Once you feel comfortable with the one table, try adding a second, on Bovada you can play up to 4 games at once.

For your question, that's completely hard to say most people are going to play more then one game for one, and two there's no tracking software on it, so you just have to keep a mental note. I would say how much your winning is not important, just try to improve, and make less mistakes. One thing I don't like about Bovada is you can't use a tracking software hud, where you can go and look at all of your hands, and analyze what you did wrong on a hand, or what you could change.

Yes,for beginning, as I began to play, I start from playmoney.

then micro...and try to move up.

the logic is like this.

as a beginner, you don't know you are a winning player or lose play. so let us think that.

A. if you are a winning player, you will eventually win and finally move to the level.
it just takes much more time frame than usual.

B. if you are a lose player, then, it is obv , very slow pace to lose your bankroll in micro stack than higher stack.
and this time frame gives u much more room to improve ur self to be a winning player.

____

compare both logic,

it is obviously an advantage for a beginner to start from micro stack-- or even play money.

LOL

Over a meaningful number of hands, a fairly decent micro player can make somewhere in the range of 5 big bets (= 10 big blinds) per 100 hands. Based on 50 hands per hour at one table, that's 5 big blinds per hour. A very strong micro player will win more.

Don't worry about your hourly now; focus on your winrate (BB/100) and getting experience to make the jump to the high micros or small stakes (respectively NL25-50 and NL100-200). You only start making any real money at 50NL, and then only if you multitable (4-tabling 50NL, making 8BB/100 hands, you'll make $12 an hour).
