What is the best way to play AK? I feel that this is a horrible hand to play, will hardly be in front if there is action and is very fragile post flop. If you open UTG and takes tribet, is a problem. if you tribeta someone and take call, it is another ... I admit, I am non-profit with this hand. Somebody else:? any tips on how to play with it? It is the hand I lost more money today, and I think it should not be like ...
:(

I play it like I play low pocket pairs with the standard 3-4x raise. If I miss and have 2 strong overs I continuation to try and take the pot. If I get called I like to have help on the turn if I want to kick out another strong bet. Just remember in micro games people think they are playing bingo so don't expect to narrow it down much with all the calling stations out there. All you can do is make them pay to play and of course know your opponent and how to get him off the hand. Best of luck at the tables!!

AK is a hand to play carefully and mainly in position and depending who is on the BB and SB and their stack size and also the stage of the tournament!

Position awareness!

Play aggressively it's a great hand and ontop of our range.

The strength with AK is preflop.

I really like to see a flop. I think people over play AK WAY to much, especially shoving all in.

this.
Youe raise, after all it is a strong hand, but pushing is bad, any pair has a fww % over your.
CBet flop is good even if you missed, you either try peeling or bluffing.
Turn is well... turn and river are tricky. One hand if you did not catch somethink strong you should not pull the hands, ant wierd J7s might have a pair and you WILL lose a lot of money trying to pull AK through. Soe turn/river is based on who you play against if you are playing agains TAG, you might not bet as if he is calling = he has something, if loose-station, you might wana bet if his range i weak.

Generally, AK is a strong hand, but in the end it is only Ace high. I have been known to limp from early position to see a flop and try to control pot size. The hardest thing about AK is generally, to maximize your profitability, you have to see all 5 community cards, because more often than not you will miss on the flop. I know a lot of people who shove with AK for this specific reason, that they want to see all 5 cards. In most cases, if the pot is raised pre-flop, and I am still in the hand, I fold if I miss or have no draws on the flop.

AK

I prefer QQ over AK personally. Statistically much better chances of winning. Even JJ is pretty good in one on one. Top pair is the objective, so only continue if you make top pair. I personally play AK only mildly aggressively, kind of limp in, then see if a ace or king comes up before betting really hard. I need to see my card on the board and it needs to be a high card personally.

I need at least top pair with ak. It's not safe playing draws.

AK is not a made hand, it's just a big drawing hand that we all over play from time to time. when you been dealt mostly bad cards AK looks like AA to some of us. Id take a 2 2 against AK any day. AK is the hand i want to see my opponent with when i go over the top with a pair and get called. AS far as how to play it goes..... I don't have the right answer. raise raise raise like it's AA?

There is about a 30% chance it will connect. If you want a 30% chance to c bet with, that's fine. Just know the risk

It's a tough hand, unless you really hit the flop hard.

This is how I'd play it. You have a 25% chance of landing on the flop. If you hit top, bid hard. Hope someone else has top. If not, check or fold.

I like to limp unless I'm on button and it's folded to me. this IMO is the most over rated hand, like you ive lost with it more than won. I never call a raise with it unless its standard, no more than 2x blinds pre flop,

I don't think limping in is correct. The advantage of ace king is that if a ace or king comes up, you have a guarantee no higher pair will come up. That's pretty useful info.

You didn't mention if you play cash or tournament.

However, contrary to what some others say, NEVER limp early position with AK. This is inviting everyone else to limp with their small pocketpairs, connectors etc against you in position and with great equity.

Your mission should be getting heads-up preflop. 3bet LP raiser or raise preflop yourself. After flop you should often cbet. Don't get married to AK.

This is a really bad advice. By limping AK EP, you invite worse hands to call to see a cheap flop or someone else raises and gets the initiative.

Also, you do not have to see all 5 cards in order to maximize profitability. You can steal the pot if the opponent folds to your cbet.

Remember, this is for micro stakes. People don't just fold to cbets. I'd say raise the blinds by 3x.

Card beautiful. You must be able to play with her. In the long term, it wins. Sometimes I just throw it in allyn. If you play pre-flop with something to do at least raise 4BB.
