Micro SNG or Cash?

Hey!

I'm starting off with about 150€ at the lowest limits.
I have a pretty good RB deal (which will probably get canceled if SBR at ipoker comes in), but I gess I can make the best of it.

The games at iPoker are very tight, since there are a lot of grinders at cash games, so I guess I could multitable to get a good volume in.
I don't really know about the Sng's. Haven't really tried them, but I see many recommend them for building a BR.

Thanks and best of luck in 2015 :)

For new players, it is better to choose SNG , usually on the micro stakes are not very many regulars, weak field and the sweeter game!!

I played both in the beginning and chose the one I was more profitable in. For me it was cash games. SNGs do have a lot of pros if you research and learn how to play them. Its all personal preference but choose the one you are best and and ENJOY playing the most.

Hi i have been playing on and off for 2 years and this year i want to take poker serious and grind up from a small bankroll (around $150-$200) in 2015. But i cant decide if i should grind cash tables or small field MTTs. I am quite decent at both versions at this level so just wondering what people would recommend?

Best thing is combination: by learning the two aspects of the game it will make you a better poker player!

Anyway if you go for cashgames, you should dig deeper into tournaments, because many sites offer tournament tokens as loyalty system, so in order for you bankroll to increase, it's better to do well in them!

Good luck at the tables! Here's a useful video for micro stakes:

There is only one factor. It all depends on your free time .. If you can play in day to 5 hours or more then choose MTTs , if less cash....

I think 150$ is not enough to play mtt. What stakes do you want to play ?

150 dollar should be ok if he starts with the micro buy-ins.
But the importance is to stick with them, what I recommend is to use the option of maximum buy-in for tourneys and sng's, so you never trick yourself into playing bigger when you're on tilt or whatever.
It's with 'tools', it's really handy for people who tend to tilt on bigger stakes when they are on a downswing (like me in the past times ten :p )

I prefer cash mtt because i always lose, which can not be my problem but what i earn in a tournament which ended up losing when i play cash that the limits are the lowest.

150 usd bankroll is defenitely not too small to play MTTs, but you should ask yourself where do you play better. Cashgame or MTTs. I am a tournament player, playing 90% of my games on tournaments.

IMO it is very bad idea to mix them both at the same time, because it s a different game CG or MTT poker.

On CG tables there are usualy regs, but on MTTs you find all sorts of fishes, so i prefer tournaments.

Percentage wise, I would play 65% tournament and 35% cash.

Whats dangerous with cash is the tilt and patience factor that might wipe our BR easily.

jep, i agree, if you play cashgames, start with NL4
I do think for cashgames there are softer sites than pokerstars!
Try Ipoker, unibet or partypoker instead! (My own opinion, can be wrong)

If you don't work with Pokersoftware like Holdem Manager or Poker Tracker, I strongly advise Unibet!
Nobody there can use these tools as it is impossible, so everybody fights with equal swords!

i would reccomend you to play cash game, and get benefits our of your Vpp points.
You can also mix with tourneys but do not play both at the same time because then you cant focus on one type and will not show your best poker...
in the end it is alsways a question of time...play some micro mtts, maybe 3 at once or 4-6 tables cash game to get some value out of it

Im going to try 8 tabling small field tournaments for a while (180-1000) i am comfortable with that many tables and i have holdem manager to help me out. If i have any successes i will let you know!

It all depends on the style.
In tournaments we have to be a tactic.
In cash games quite different psychology.

A few things to consider are:
How much time do you have per session. If you can only play a couple of hours and then lose focus to easily (or have other obligations), then stick with cash games.
What stakes. With MTT less than 100 entrants, buy-in less than $0.50. With less than 20 entrants, buy in up to $2.00 At cash games stick with the micro stakes 1/2 cents or 2/4
Where does your advantage lie. Are you more profitable on one style or the other.
