So I came across this video which amazed me. Because, you see this artist throwing paint onto a canvas in what appears to be a random fashion...

...YET, all along, as you can see from the final result, there was a method to the madness.

I think WE SHOULD ALL aim to play poker in this way: lead opponents to perceive our actions at the table as random all the while a grander plan abstractly looms below the "randomness."

I always try to play this way and I have SO MUCH to learn in that vein: to liken it to the artist in the video, imagine an end result that almost looks like a face but not quite.....so what my opponents perceive as my random limps, calls, raises, re-raises, and folds do paint a picture but not exactly what I initially intended.

Sometimes the picture I paint is specific to each particular opponent so that different opponents can have a completely different idea of how I play despite having been sitting at the same table with me at the same time. How is this possible? Well, people will be more likely to remember things that have personally affected them: the way I had bet against an opponent and took his chips will paint a particular picture for that particular opponent while the way I bluffed another will paint yet a different picture for him.

As I gain more experience, I hope to become more refined in my ability to paint pictures for opponents but the important thing is to appear to be random in my actions: that is key, IMHO. People will do crazy things against a player who appears to play randomly; and what more could I ask for than for my opponents to do crazy things at the table? Sure beats them making optimal plays!

lolol kindergarten finger painting skills at its finest! amazing how the mad artist throws balls of paint on the canvas and rubs it a certain way with his fingers to actually make a face appear...seems like he's swishing the paint around on the canvas wrecklessly without much thought...

I see how this applies to poker....but to get to that level of "pictur painting" at the poker table prolly takes a lot of skill.
