The mindset refers to the set of mental skills necessary to perform adequately in an activity. In tennis or golf (high precision sports) mental skills are used focused on prolonged concentration and fine motor skills. For poker it is basically necessary (a thing that is not a girl who is moving hands) an understanding of the basics of the game. These fundamentals refer on the one hand to the mathematical and strategic aspect of the same and on the other hand to the understanding of the random aspect. I do not want to do a statistical analysis of how much luck affects the short term but rather stick with the idea that it is a long term game, how much is that long term? does not matter..

On the other hand mention that this is one of the few sports that I can think of where doing things right is not always rewarded in a reasonable amount of time, which can be very frustrating for many of us (and personally is what it costs me similar of this) since in case the human being is an animal that looks for patterns, looks for causes and effects and it does not fit in the head that to put the maximum of effort often yields regrettable results in the tables what it entails to do stupid moves or more formally Ev-, because of course... that we win does not depend on us so, what else makes a big bluff or pay with second pair on the river when we know that the rival never lies... All this powers downswing and causes our graphics to go to hell.

So the solution is to concentrate on each hand and (as the great Phil Galfond says) "think that each hand is a unique option to play a perfect poker" lose or win does not matter because we are only happy to play well and we do not care the money, to the point of feeling happy when we induce a bluff of the opponent and we lose in 90-10 on the flop, since given the above we are only happy to play the hand well. Obviously this is difficult to accept and put into practice (bankroll) but it is certainly a position that depending on the degree that we create ourselves will help us concentrate on playing well each hand is ultimately what matters.

Well this has been my little reflection, I hope you can get something important out of it and have bad luck on the tables but good game xD

Your post is very important for me. Is so difficult sosteing the concentration at every hands
Your comparisong with other sports like golf and tennis is very reasonable.
That frase " "think that each hand is a unique option to play a perfect poker" will be my frase at the table.
Thank you for that information. I sure it was very neccesary to better the game.

More than the mentality or ability, I feel that the experience is much more important, according to me

The 'grind' comes from the bad beats involved with the lifestyle.

Gotta have a positive mentality but not an overly optimistic one. Balance is key.

Expect to profit but fear not doing so in the short-term.

The glass is, after all, half-full if you are filling it and half-empty if it's being emptied.
