There are certainly some live players who emphasise reads over math, but the truth is you don't actually need to be a math genius to be decent at poker.

The basic mathematical concepts are pretty straightforward, it's not like you're doing advanced calculus at the table or anything. So for the most part I don't think it's a choice you have to make - the math is necessary but it's not that hard.

I think todays poker is far more math related than human reads especially in the online world .The 4x 2 x rule is easy math to get started with. Outs times 2 for turn odds, outs times 4 for flop odds ,check this against you pot size odds for your next move. It is basic but works for beginners while they learn

Poker math is very easy, after you just take your time and learn it. Also you don’t need to be precise at all in your math (it’s like saying 1+1=3 and being close enough correct, at least in nanos).

And humanitarian mindset is used to hange the variables in the math equations anyways, so they are same thing at the end, you need both skills to be any decent.

The math used at the poker table is very easy. However watching some video lessons you would see advance formulas for working out EV and equity percentage along with pot odd percentage but some of these or so advance that it would take someone who probably have a phd in math to work out those complex formula on the spot. But math that they would teach you to use at the table is basic math anyone can use.

Does anybody like math?

Do you need to be a mathematical genius just be a pro in poker? I think not because playing poker is more than just doing math equations. Poker needs more analyzing than than solving equation.

Not everybody likes math but we all need it.
It is the one truly universal language.

Im prolly the only one who likes math lol i even taught myself programming

Poker - a fusion sports, psychology, mathematics and business. Poker - is an art!

It is not necessary to be a great mathematician to

Sure mathenatic is famous. But not deadly

I play a lot using the odds of the out and sometimes I'm effective as sometimes not because of that I can not tell if one or the other is better I prefer to combine human luck with probability

Pure math has evolved to a beast that is out of reach of mere mortals. Even two math professors don’t understand each other on their different fields, many times not even in the same field. Unifying language in my ass, grrr. Pure math is not that 1+1=2, but about proving this actually is the case.
