I don't quite understand the question. Definitely need more info about the hand. Blind levels, # of players at the table, and need to know every action at the table thus far to understand the 3 bet part. And I'm assuming this a ring game or is it a tourney or SnG? If it's a MTT how many players are left? Also, what does the "K8 or 9" mean?

????? If you are first to act preflop how are you ever 3-betting unless you backraised (limp then raise a subsequent raise ahead of you)

Either way, if you're ever going to backraise, best do it with AQ-AK when you have supper Laggy thieves in the CO and BU, because of blockers and you are likely to pick some bets more than a raise UTG??? then again, if those guys are laggy, prolly best to stick a standard raise anyway and not complicate things

Still, mostly dangerous strategy.

K8 or K9 is an autofold preflop UTG full ring most of the time...

JCLA, you got mixed up up man. Your not clear as to what you mean. If your talking aboout raising it in a 9 max then no. Fold it. Only raise that from cuttoff or button , assuming the pot hasnt been openned yet.

p.s K9 suited is alil better than K8 suited but to me they are the exact same hand. It's not too bad of a hand to be honest but its not the best either.

I think he's just jerkin our chains. Nobody 3 bets with K 8 or 9 especially if they're not sure which one it is. Sir, or madam, you need to repost this in the "Joke of the day" thread.

Would you mind defining standard raise? Im under the impression 3 times the big bling is a standard raise?

If you are first to act preflop, you can't 3-bet. A 3-bet is when you are the second person to raise.

Blind = 1 bet, a raise is 2-bet, another raise is a 3-bet.

Therefore, from your statements, we all assumed you were UTG (under the gun, to the immediate left of the big blind).

K-9 or K-8 is an automatic fold from UTG. To many people yet to act after you. You would likely be playing a mediocre hand out of position. Not a good idea.

A standard raise is three or four times the big blind. Table dynamics may change this however.

I was never informed of this terminology either ;( but now that isee it i understand and there is no such thing as auto fold in my books! The more you fold the less pots your in on, the less pots your in on the more boring it becomes and less money you make. Good luck with you K 8/9's they arent working today for me!

They aren't working for you today because they are auto folds lol. The less pots you're in, the more pots where you will have a stronger hand surely. Logic=flawed.

I never knew there was a correlation between being bored and making less money....

So when you are bored you make less money but when you are not bored you make more money????

K9 suited is a strange hand. When analyzed using poker software I often find it is just over the line into the range of bad starting hands, for some reason.
