How do you decide on how much chips you bet when you have a good hand?

Do you use any sort of betting patterns when you make a bet?
For example: 200 on flop, 400 on turn, 600 on river...etc.

bet sizing is pretty important in NL games.

If you are betting you so not want to lay odds to other people drawing to a hand.

If you are drawing to a hand you need to know how many outs you have and determine if the cost to call if laying you the right odds to call.

This is a very complex subject, and I just touche the surface of it.

Well this really depends. Lets say you have a quality hand... and as a result you bet preflop... 3 times for example. On the flop if you wish to continue, by making the same bet, you arent likely to scare the guy away since their is now an actual pot to fight for, so if your bluffing usually its a considerable amount, but if your trying to make him call, you have to figure out what the guys limit is, and this is something that you had to be looking for in the past 50 hands. Once you know this limit, you can bet the ideal amount that will ultimately not look like your trying to fish him, but not big enough to scare him off. Good luck at the tables :).
