Hey there guys!
I'm new on this forum, and was wondering if anyone would be bored enough to teach me some poker? :)
I do play some now too (it's more like gambling i guess), but I have a lot to learn, and I do appreciate knowledge this forum offers, but I feel I need some individual couching and guiding. Basically I need a training plan - what to learn, in what order, what books to read, software to install, etc.. So yeah, if anyone with decent skill set is up for this not-easy task, please PM me, and we can take it from there. Once I have found what I'm looking for, I'll update this post.
Thanks and good luck at the tables! :)

if your just starting out my advice would be if you play pokerstars go through their poker school at first and do all the lessons they have there. you will get tickets to tournaments and learn all the basics and some low level intermediate stuff. then play their open skill freerolls and the CC freerolls for a month or so and log a lot of hands to get the basics down. once your done that you should have a pretty pretty good grasp of what you already know and certain areas you need to improve. then it would be a little bit easier to narrow down someone working one on one with you. hope this helps

Every little helps! :) Well, I have completed PS school tests, and I am playing in Open League games (1009 in rank atm & 1x finished 4th!!). I am looking for little more advanced guidance - all that mathematical "crap", graphs, and such. Also I have no idea about BRM except that I should have lots of money to play small stakes, or tracking my progress.

Poker Tournament Formula: New Strategies to Beat No-Limit Poker Tournaments

This is a good start. If you do not like this one there are many to pick from. Jonathan Little has a newer book that is pretty good also. You should take your time and really understand what you are reading and apply the lesson you learn to your game.

First of all let me correct you, poker is not gambling and never will be if you learn to play correctly, its a game of skill.

Ok well then. I learned a lot about the math and banroll management at this website - http://www.thepokerbank.com/strategy/mathematics/

as far as the graphs and such download a free trial of poker tracker 4 and try that out. it will keep track of all your stats and track your leaks for you, well worth the trial and cheap after if you like it.

Also, read up on some hand analysis in this forum as that is probably the best way to understand the practical parts of poker, also post some of your hands too if you need some help anylizing where you might of went wrong.

hope that helps, good luck!!

What I meant was that I am more gambling than playing poker, as I don't quite understand mathematical aspects of this game (yet!), not that the game is a gamble itself. :)

If you're In need of a teacher, I suggest you PM Jblocker or Jblocher on here. He's an excellent teacher btw, easy to understand, and easy to get along with. I on the other hand was a terrible student to be honest, and that's why things didn't really bloom, I will say that, He did In all fairness and honesty put forth 100%, but what's that old saying "You can't teach an old dog new tricks", that saying could not have been more real for me.

Here's his thread, and he's basically crushing souls In the games he plays

So PM him and talk to him about that you're looking for, His real name Is Jordan btw
