Looking for resources
Hey guys, a little background: I have been playing at Bovada
for about 2 1/2 weeks now. For the past three years some friends and I have done a little $20 buy in game at home once a year, about 9 of us. That's it, that's all my poker experience. Never even watched a wsop
event on tv! My first day on Bovada I had to look up what donk meant lol. I still don't know what half the terms mean, but I am picking it all up slowly.
I've been playing at the micro level - $1-$3 buy ins. I've been playing mtt, sng, and cash, leaning more toward mtt (I can play way more hands for same buy in). First week I was really bad. If there was say 400 players in mtt, I would finish between 150th-350th place. Now I'm finishing just outside the paying places almost every time. For that same 400 player mtt, I'm now finishing between 40th-100th place. I'd say I'm getting a lot better, but still a losing player. I even already know at least one of my leaks, I'm too tight/passive. Just don't know how to fix it yet. I've been doing a bit of research online, partly how I've gotten better so far.
So here's my questions, where should I start to fix my game? I'd like to get a book, what would be the best book for me to start with? Should I get something like poker tracker or hem to help analyze where I'm weak? I'm a little worried that I wouldn't even understand what they're telling me yet. Should I try to find a teacher? Maybe an online training site? I'm willing to put in the work, but don't want to overwhelm myself too much and not get the full benefit from these resources.
