Hey, new to this forum but learning a lot already. I'm pretty good at poker; that doesn't say much on a forum like this but I'll stick to pretty good, because people can definitely beat me and I can do some beating

Anyways, I play basically Sit and go's with my friends. Before I joined this site I just called it poker, we all sit down, put our money in and whoever wins leaves with that money, maybe second place getting his money back. I played through highschool, and now with my Fraternity, and I still have never lost money. I've played only up to 10 dollars a pop, but with a large amount of people, and have never come in worse than 3rd, and that time we were playing with 10 people so I got my money back anyways.

I know this is still a small sampling, but I admit I'm getting a big head. There is a large Texas Hold Em charity tournament coming up, with around 50 entries. Its a charity game for $100 dollars, and the top ten get paid. I'm not saying I'm an expert and this will be easy, I still definitely have holes in my game. But its in a month and I'm considering playing it. Will I be blown out of the water? I know its hard to judge; this post is half venting, trying to get my thoughts out. Its a lot of money but I think I can play just fine and see how I do, if not my money goes to a good cause.

Any thoughts/advise for me starting out? I know many people prefer online but thats not for me. Thanks very much for the consideration.

EDIT: Only thing that worries me is there is a one time $75 add on in the beginning of the game, and $75 dollar rebuy. This is a lot, and I don't know whether I'd be comfortable paying $175 upon sitting down, but I know most people would. Should I not attempt this game if I'm not all for adding on?

Is there something inherently wrong with my post? Tell me if so; this isn't an attempt to troll, rather a look-see into other people's minds on my dilemma. I'm open to criticism, in fact I think it would help my game.

One thing I would like to add. Everyone thinks that they are a better player than what they really are. I remember when I first started out in my first poker forum. I thought I was a really good player and had someone else tell me the same thing. You are never really that good when you look back few months or even years down the road. Then you laugh it off and remember you saying that. lol I know I did. I laugh so hard thinking how awesome I was and really I was just a noob. lol I am much better player now than I was then. But what is even more funny I am gonna do this again a few months or even years down the road again from now. :D

Hahaha this is a very funny quote, and yes I agree. I play ABC poker and its been working for me, I just haven't yet ran into that wall. I can afford to lose it, but a big question is the add-on. If i can afford 100 but 175 is too much, should I just avoid the game to avoid starting with half the stack of some of my competitors?

Yah I would personally recommend avoiding this game. If almost every other person adds on except for you you will be at an extreme disadvantage and will most likely be bullied constantly. If your not comfortable, chances are you will NOT play your best poker due to stress of losing the money you cant afford to lose. Hope this helps.

If you need a $175 lesson in humility, then by all means go for it. Or wait to join the CC freerolls and get that lesson for nothing.

If all you've ever played is $10 sit n go's with ur buddys I would not recommend going out and buying in for $100 into a MTT.. ANY tourney that i see has an add-on I automatically consider that part of the buy-in...

No matter how good you are its still very hard to win a tournament at a level playing field.. from what u say your not very experienced annnnd youd be starting short-stacked.. Avoid this one unless you dont mind spending at least $175 for the experience
