Is limping on the button a good strategy in 9 seat cash games when it is folded around to you? I seem to make a lot of steals when the sb and bb miss the flop and check to me.

It really depends on your opponent.. I normally dont like leading off with a limp in any position, unless there is a person on tilt at the table... that way , maybe they will push in all of their chips.. and u can make a snap call and bust them if u got good cards... Just doesnt seem like a limp would be a good choice here buddy..

i generally would raise on the button if its folded around to me, you limping indicates to them that your cards aren't strong therefore they're even less likely to respect your play on the button, any decent player would exploit that as a weakness, why risk letting your opponent see a flop when you can win the blinds without contest most of the time, or better yet having them call your raise with weak hands and folding most of the time when they dont hit the flop oop

I only limp the BTN if I have a speculative hand and there were like 4 limpers ahead - no way to push them all out preflop and a raise with something weak is a no no in 2NL where you can't bluff people out of the pot.

Otherwise, autoraise. If you don't raise, BB should.
