My favorite time to limp is when I trap, because I hit the nuts on the flop :D

If possible, I would never limp. Raising is always better, because you can also represent a strong hand if you have nothing.

When I am in the big blind and a couple of guys limp in - that can be profitable.

Actually, depending on how the table plays, I found that limping can be very profitable.

But you have to know how to play well post flop - understand pot odds, putting people on ranges, etc so you can make draws with weird hands like 63s and force people off better hands by repping a better hand, or trapping.

If it works, you make an invisible straight with 84o and people call you a donk even tho you had the pot odds to call his bets and he gets pissed

But this really depends on the table - sometimes they don't let you limp, then you can't do it.

You also need to know how to pick good times to do so, ie you have a big enough stack to "invest" into limping because you do end up losing quite a few chips in order to win one big hand

I'll limp on a soft table, whereas players will only bet if they have something. I can see a cheap flop and maybe even a free turn card.
