Howard Lederer advocates check raising if you hit any piece of the flop, including a draw to a gutshot or better. The rationale is that if you always check out of position you're not giving away any information, so your opponent is essentially always acting first. Also, if your opponent missed and is just cbetting, you will sometimes win the pot right there.
I'll admit I have a hard time consistently doing it, though, and I'm not sure it works as well at very low limits where pots are often multiway.
