Hey now,

I have been playing Tight Aggressive almost exclusively for the past few months, and I'd like to start adding in the skills needed to play a bit looser without being a complete moron. I wouldn't mind making the learning curve easier if possible.

I'm not after the specifics of what I should be doing, as I have some resources to use to learn the basics, however...

What must I NOT do when moving into this style of play at the Micros? I feel there must be a handful of mistakes that will far outweigh imperfectly played positives.

Thoughts?

Being loose-aggressive at the micros doesn't seem optimal as people don't know how to fold for the most part.

Most important thing is timing. Be loose and aggressive with people who are rather passive to scare them off the pot.

Open up near bubbles as people become more passive.

The key is just do it at the right times and don't over-do it.

I agree, it doesn't make much sense, if your opponent is not skilled enough to understand your bet. For studying I recommend Daniel and smallball

Advice for learning to play Loose Aggressive

I've tried making loose aggressive an alternate playing style I can switch to and I have some advice of what not to do.

Don't think you have to always play loose aggressive to learn it. Play a few orbits TAG and a few LAG to make your results better even when first learning.

If people know you're playing loose, lighten up on the bluffing. If people think you're playing any two cards they tend to want to call you just to see what you're playing with even with moderate holdings.

Be more aggressive late and less aggressive early. You know you're starting with marginal holdings, so don't focus on pushing people out of the pot early. Wait until the turn or river to see if people are trying to take it down and when they aren't that's when you get involved and try to steal a pot or two.

Be careful of trappers. Pay close attention to people who don't bet when they have a good hand, because as a LAGger you are highly susceptible to traps.

Avoid being aggressive just because you hit a pair. Remember, your LAG hands are probably marginal card holdings. So hitting a pair, even top pair, doesn't mean the same thing as when yo hit a pair holding AQ. Hold out for 2 pair before thinking you can legitimately win the pot without stealing it.

Play for the small pots. You'll be losing a lot of blinds playing LAG, so when small pots arise that no one wants, make a play for them to keep your stack healthy.

This guy knows how to poker man!!!
Very good description!i even suggest to implement LAG in some rounds *maybe a new table)or at the beginning of a tournament, to get to know the opponents. Just bet carefully and be prepared to fold even with best hand. You don't want to loose your chips
