Programming can be off poker, but while studying I realized that programming also involves a lot of logic and problem solving. Someone here forum noticed an improvement in the way to play poker after starting to learn programming?

I wouldn't try and argue that learning programming wouldn't help you strengthen your logic and programming skills, but it's probably a distraction. The amount of time and effort required to become skilled at programming (to the point where those skills can be generalized to your poker play) is time you would benefit more from by playing poker.

I do not know if learning the program would help in poker, but I'm learning python for residential automation projects.

If you are trying to program a poker not as previously mentioned, then absolutely this will help! You'll learn how to code the optimal strategy (or your opinion of an optimal strategy) and learn how you think you should behave. I don't think that programming logic itself would be that useful, but teaching something the best strategy would be beneficial. Lot of time however for not all that much gain

The short answer is "No". I'm a computer programmer (retired), and it has not helped me at all. I'm sure that top poker players, come from all walks of life.

You are right when you say "programming involves logic". But one thing that programming does not have and poker does, is luck (variance). And we can be thankful for that. The mind just boggles at the thought. To take it to the extreme, planes could fall out of the sky, cars stopping on motorways in rush hours, trains crashing, etc, etc.

All the very best with your study, both programming and poker.

We often leave the slogan of "If I'm lucky," or "I'm a little bit lucky ..." and so on. The programming also has some if ..., then ... And more.

To me this is a huge waist of time. I'd rather use that energy for something more tangible. Going over hand history for valid poker information on where you may have loss value or perhaps folded makes more sense than trying to figure out a program.

What connects poker and programming is often the math. And of course the math trains your logical thinking. If you study computer science you have to go through about 2-3 semesters of math. And usually you will have some lessons of probability as well. And this is strongly of course connected to poker. But poker in my opinion is not only math, like programming is not only math. You can't write a good program without understanding the psyche of the users. And the same it is in poker, you won't play extremely good, if you neglect the psychological factors of poker.

I dont think learning to program is a waste of time. After all, there are many good jobs available to good computer programmers, and it is certainly a challenging activity to become proficient at. However, as a retired software developer, and onetime computer science major, I dont think there's any direct correlation between the two. And certainly no reason to learn programming, if the only reason is to improve your poker skills.

Programming makes you think fast and develops logic, so it improves the game of poker

Having programmed in c#, java, js and a bit of c++.

Two things you'll get from it:
1 - Quicker processing of the math
2 - Maybe a touch of pattern recognition.

Thats about it.

The problem with being a programmer and a poker player is this. Programmers are very logical, structured and generally, play by the numbers. Where logic will fail is when you meet a player that is creative in their play, it'll end up confusing most that are heavy into programming - at least in my exp. I had to shake off that strict thinking to be able to play among higher skilled players. It cost me a lot of money to realize that. Unless you learned to "program" in php and are self taught that is, in that case, you're probably already pretty creative and should be just fine.
