I have several live NLHE tourneys around where I live. They are usually 30 people or less and range from $25-$65 buy in and they usually allow rebuys up till the second break. I never rebuy.

My question is: Do I practice full on tourney play online or do I practice in online Sit n Go's?

In my opinion, online and live are almost different games. Live has to do with people, how do they play, what do you know, did he just cough and scratch his nose, whats that mean, etc. Online has more to do with math and grinding out the good hands. Only thing that would be similar is short blinds, loose players, and drawing out (for online versions of this go try 'TURBO SNGs)

That being said, anyplace you can go through the motions of how you play, is a good place to learn experience. SNGs would be ok, but dont expect everything to translate to live poker

Im a live low limit grinder mostly, 2/5 usually, and have been profitable for years. Im starting online again, and remembering how very different it is....

I would think that playing tournaments would be the best practice for playing tournaments. After all Sit n Go's and multi-table tournaments are two completely different animals.

Its funny this is so out of place, but I was going to say LEARN THE RULES of the poker room you are going to play at please. There are MANY rules for live poker that never get into play online since the computer does them for you. You can accidentally go all in and not mean it - dont be that person.
