Free for discussion of course eventhough I can admit it's pretty much a rhetorical question ;)
My answer would be: No, definitely not!

Playing with "free money" is like playing with "fake money". Most people don't care. This s why you see the all-in-frency the first 60 minutes

This s the only place where you lose so many hands due to a runner-runner

I could probably go on forever but that would ruin the thread for you. I guess you all have your own reasons to put in here :)

----

Don't get me wrong! I like freerolls just like the next guy, I'm just saying it's not the place to be if you are really trying to learn to play poker!
It's not the place to be if you intentions are to be a better poker player

I am a winning player at fake money tables
I AM STILL recovering from the losses suffered at the micros
I picked a lot of bad habits there
I wouldn't recommend playing with fake money
Try freeroll tournaments to build a bankroll, sure, but play will change once you play for $ guaranteed

If you are interested I will play you with fake money 6 max and try to play my best (again, I am a losing player )

I would not recommend that you depend on free rolls for learning poker. You can play for some time and then you can change. Brush up on your poker theory and watch poker videos to learn and try to implement the strategies in the free roll tournaments but you wont learn much this way, once you have a bank roll you can switch.

pretty much over the first half of a freerole is a joke, but as you get deeper and closer to the money, the play gets a little better, enough for a beginner to learn some stuff...

Can't learn anything from freerolls. Especially because most of the guys shove all-in at the start.

If your a newbie, then freeroll is for you.

While playing, you must likewise read strategies/theories.

After a while, you can switch now to micros.

Even at freeroll they will be always something new you can learn.
At least you can practice your skill there.

I think pokersite freerolls are put out to get you started and testing out their platform. like the 10.00 freerolls on ACR &BCP. Bovada doesnt even have a daily freeroll so thats already a ****in bummer for anyone trying to test out their platform. I think its best to play private freerolls and try to come up from there, because youll play better players who you can gain from also become friends with by joining on forums and sites. Freerolls has its advantage. People always want to be right about making money when they have money, but what about asking if you got what it takes to play poker just to prove you can. i have won freerolls and used the money to play MTTS and rack up over $1000.00 last august in 2 days of poker. So it for sure has something you can use to learn from .

Thanks for all the replies. Would just like to say that this wasn't really a question from my part. More of a ground for discussion :)
I know (for my own part) that freerolls don't help me be a better poker player. I still play them though and I do enjoy them when I survive the first crazy hour :)

Ps. Maybe I'm blind or maybe it's a locked feature for "newcomers" but where can I set my signature? I can't find the settings for it.

Click User Cp. Left side of screen scroll down and should see Edit Signature.
Now on to the topic. Can you learn anything from freerolls? Absolutley you can. Although, this also depends on knowledge you have of the game. Like me? I don't think I can learn anything off of a freeroll. Now my g/f on the other hand...I tell her all the time if she wants to start playing I would let her play freerolls just don't play with my cash :p

You just need to survive the first half an hour , then i think freerolls are just like the micro games. and in every poker game u can learn a thing or two :)

I have learned poker and build a bankroll through freerolls.

Maybe it is time for me to change lane but not yet as I am still learning.

I think Premier League is very usefull even though it is a freeroll leaderboard.

Cardschat freerolls are also very good.

Or might I be wrong but I think you can learn poker from freerolls.

you can use freerolls to apply theories that you learn in parallel, then of course you are not going to win every hand there but at least if stick to the theory then you can make an habit while you have fun and why not increase your bankroll from zero to a bunch of dollars

Freeroll tournaments are not always you can learn how to play, not always they are good players as always, there's just not much experienced and beginners, for the first time will not accustomed to live with what you were taught and learned'll play in freerolls many people think that im just very lucky for example as in practice, I often meet such people playing different map 7 2 , 4 , J 2, and while I think that all this super card =)

my advice is to play the Freeroll tournaments but don't forget to remember how to play the opponents during long time of playing at one table, remember who with which hand is played, good luck in poker =)

It's not as if someone who opts to start out by playing freerolls is stuck playing them forever. It's not what I'd do if I were starting now, but that's me. If other people are content starting with them, or even just playing them forever, well, to each his own.

For example, OP seems to assume everyone has to want to learn. In practice, it can be a personal matter that also involves not just wanting to learn as a yes/no, but also how much effort different people are willing to expend.

Freerolls are a animal that just cant be tamed. All in every hand for a lot of people really wrecks it,But if you have discipline you can gain experience and learn what works for you and what does not. Remember every one has a different style and freerollin helps you figure out what your style is without breaking the bank.

Yea sure. Is a great place to start learning without using your own money. I'd also recommend you not to deposit until you have been able to win some credit from freerolls. Then you'd have some experience playing with other players.

я думаю, что ответ находится в этом абсолютно уверен! Есть много покер-сайтов провести фриролл турнир. Вы можете улучшить свои навыки во время этих турниров. Удачи вам!

I agree with you 100% because in the Freeroll, you will learn to play but the game tactics in MTT tournaments with a buy-in that is a little more !
