One of the most common mistakes in poker is getting ****y when you get ahead. You see it a lot in MTTs but you also see it in cash games. Lets say you're on a $.01-$.02 table and you start with the max of $2, you run good and get up to $4+. Most players will stay in at that point because they're running good. This is fine if the other players have lesser stacks but if one or more have equal or greater stacks than you the smart play is to exit the table, wait the amount of time required to come back with just the max $2. This is the best way to keep your bankroll as you will not get a bad beat that takes your winnings. Good luck all...

i realy don't know what to think i guess you can play 2$ every day if you want and not going broke. that's like 60 $/month. Do you realy have to be scared to lose 4 $?

I think if you're really conservative player and have a very restricted bankroll this can be a strategy, but to leave the table everytime you double your initial stack it's not the best strategy in my opinion.

Is a wise play when you play at stakes 100 times lower than your bankroll Say for example you have 100$ on your bankroll .. you should play only $1 buy in
That is because even best players lose 50 buy ins in the game

I agree with what you are saying let they say a gambler is way to greedy and that is why they lose

I agree when playing cash games if I double what I started with I'm out then wait the time and get back in for the minimum amount so if I lose a bug hand I don't lose all my stack

I've done that strategy couple of times but you loose when you have to force other players with more money

I start with $1 and get out when it's $4. Except I seat in position on fat fish.

It depends how the big stacks are playing. If they are playing a lot of hands then I am more likely to leave. If they appear to be just playing tight aggressive and have fish around feeding them, I'll stick around. With them playing tight you frequently are the bigstack in a hand and you don't have to butt heads with the big stack when they are playing.

Why exit? You have more chips, just play carefully and grab some more! But I totally agree, you need a limit, and you have to keep it strict!

You can play a wider range given the deeper stack size. Just bully others around. It's a different play style you'll have to learn eventually. I would never leave a fishy table.

I personally could not play 25c , or 50c games building a bankroll from cents is just not going to happen. Some point to you have to realize time wasted, I defanitly would not want to waste a win on a 1st place being $4.30 =/

You can play stakes that are 50 lower than your bankroll if you want to be a professional but when you are a recretional player you can play at stakes 25 times lower than your bankroll in order to not lose a lot of money

And I always do things differently. I take that 1 or 2 dollars. Whatever is good!

I think 25xbuyin, SNG 50 MTT and 25 buy in cash games. you lose some, drop down a level. Now if I could follow that myself!

Hy!
I agree to leave once. But then, if you gain on the 2nd run, play big stack! You can push harder and play looser. Look in poker stars school how to do it.
It´s fun, sqeezing the others...

I like this strategy. Going from a $1 to $2 and getting out does not make sense. It kinda means you need to win half the time to break out even. If you go from $1 to $4, you can lose three times, and just have to win once to break out even.

I don't think this is the most profitable play. Play 4dollars the same way you play 2 dollars, especially if you're on a good table. It allows you to cover higher stacks allins when you have the nuts..don't be scared.

This has happened to me many times. I double my stack, loosen up too much, and then get bad beat and lose it all. It's definitely tempting to leave the table once you've doubled up, but it's probably better to learn to remain disciplined, not get overconfident, and keep playing the same tight solid game with 200 bb's that you were playing when you first sat down.
