The only way you can find out if you are making progress and becoming a winning player is to keep a log.
It doesn't need to be over elaborate, but it has to reflect the truth about how you are playing.
Make one to fit your own needs, but include the date, type of game, stakes, time played and the money won or lost.

Holdem Manager or Poker Tracker can do this for you, I bought the small stakes HEM version a couple years ago myself. There are probably other programs as well, but I've been out of the loop for a while.

Yes it is a good idea, to see your progress this way, but when you play often you see your progress and from the results.
