Poker is an intellectual game. You are not allowed to control the cards that you are given, but you can successfully play them.
My advice for you:
1) Initially, when you go to any tournament, you need to have a suitable mood, which in itself involves a lot of patience, because even a tournament for 360 people with 36 prize places lasts about
2-2,5 hours. Initially, it is clear that in addition to winning, you need also patience to have for this. Often during the game a person just gets tired, starts playing weak hands, thus losing chips. For example, it was 3200. You did not fold, but played hands with pocket cards 9 2, Q 5, etc. The size of the blinds during the game: 50/100. On the table dropped something like A K 9, the opponents raised the stakes, because they probably have the highest pair and you folded and reached the mark of about 2500. Your mood fell from unsuccessful hands. And in the end came the idea that you had to double your chips and play it faster. Usually the result of this one is defeat. Because losing the patience of the brain no longer perceives a truly strong hand. This is more like a game like "finger in the sky" or "well, suddenly lucky."
2) Sitting down for the game you should not be distracted. If this happens, then the stream of thoughts that has been sent to the game can be completely lost. This is fraught with blunders.
3) So. If you enter the freeroll and see that there are, for example, 7000 players playing, and prize places 56, do not despair. Of these 7,000, about 80% of hotheads that go all-in, play with weak hands, etc. Believe me) The first hour in such tournaments is a game of survival. Only a person with a cold head and patience calmly passes this stage, playing strong hands. Of course, you can play and loose aggressively (we will talk about the style of the game later), but for this you need to be at least a chip leader (the most chips at the table among all players) or something like that. To each his own, but my opinion is that patience and playing strong hands is the best tactic in tournaments, especially freerolls.
4) Conclusion: sitting at the table of the poker tournament remember that your time is valuable and you need to use it rationally. Have a maximum of patience. Understand that in order to win you need to really wait a chance. Poker is a game to which there are really probabilities. And it does not mean that you have to carry every hand on the table. Just catch your chance, and do not play by the rules of others, for example, when opponents catch strong hands and try to lure you into their raise. Create your game with your strong hand.
Good luck in the game!:ciao:

Can fully relate to this. I've recently started playing poker more seriously doing free rolls and patience is key. I've tightened up my ranges and find more success than before. Being disciplined about the hands you play takes the load off and I find it also helps me focus on the game a bit better. I consistently survive the first hour by not going all in if I can help it and staying cool. Tournament play is an endurance test and knowing when to pick your spots.
