I recently have begun taking shots at the only cash games the card rooms around me offer, $1/$2. Buying in 100, despite the fact that my bankroll is only 300. I do much better live than online (lost about 200).
I would like some suggestions on the best way to play my bankroll in this situation. Has anyone been in a similar position when first starting out?

Why start out online at such high stakes? You will only run into experienced regs who will stack you quick. With 300 BR I would stick to 5 or 10NL.

EDIT: Ya I read your post wrong. I can not offer any advice for live but it seems to me you would have to play tight agg. and get your money in good and double up as many times as possible. I couldn't even imagine playing 100NL with a 300 BR. To me that's pure gambling, a night at the casino with no care to win or lose.

Situation where we have limited BR or no cash backing or stake somewhat high, etc, I usually get the minimum buy-in.

If situation is reverse, I grab the maximum buy-in to cover them all.

Play nitty as hell, win a decent pot and leave immediately.

Come back vs different table.

Repeat.

I actually played a LOT of 1 or 2 nl with a couple shots at 5nl and lost that much. I know right? EEK! I consider myself a fairly logical and reasonable player but I can't seem to handle micro stakes online. Any tips for that?

As for the other bit you posted about a "night out", I am living on about $700 dollars a month of disability. The money I play with is solely money I've won playing poker minus what I've had to take out of my bankroll for serious expenses. Needless to say I don't even have $10 nights out right now

Best advice is to play extremely tight and almost never limp in.. Also try 2 see flops with suited connectors when multiple callers are before you

The golden rule to play a game that you have 30 buy in.

For a person to manage your bankroll, should enter into tables when your bankroll is 100 times the entry in the table, that is, you play the tables 0.01 / 0.02 up to $ 100, then you go up to 0.02 / 0.05 to the $ 500 level ... to rack up the tables you have to have 100 times the Big Blind

I agree with some of the others who have said if you insist on playing live that you buyin for the minimum play extremely tight and look to get all in with a big hand and then leave after doubling . But I also would think you could get a lot more experience and value for that money if you just deposited online again and stuck to strict BR management and posted on these forums about questions you have . Live play and micro strategy online is generally pretty much the same , you wanna play tight and learn to bet for value , also learning to bet fold instead of check calling down is probably the most important thing vs passive opponents .

Thanks this is probably the best Idea I've heard yet. Would you recommend me treating my bankroll as one or splitting off part of my existing bankroll to play with online?

honestly speaking I started playing on pokerstars and there is just play money and then I started playing freerolls after six months. I know it is very difficult to start playing .Then there looking for little more than the Eldorado poker room where there is only 40 and playing at school I had taken hold of the basics of poker after he returned to PokerStars where I have little more to operate more successful poker
