I was one of those people who use to play 2 or 3 tourneys at once and to be honest, i didn't do well. I then started just playing 1 tourney at a time and I found that i focus a lot harder and read people better when I focus on the tourney. Switching back and forth between tournies causes you to miss how people actually play and you're only focused on your own hold cards. So if you haven"t been winning like you should playing multiple tournaments, then cut back to 1 at a time and keep your focus. It'll be better for you in the long run. Good luck at the tables, and try it out, you'll thank me later!

Depends on the type of player. The multi-tablers would most likely tell you it really doesn't matter. They are only playing the math of the game. What hands will win - over the long haul. Doesn't seem to matter whether it's MTT's or rings, having one game on their screen is just not acceptable .. :D

I'm in your corner though. I try to stick with one table. I started playing live in '69 and don't suffer from boredom at one table. I enjoy concentrating on one game.

In most cases, people playing ~15% of their hands and folding the rest are too easily bored with the lack of action. They MUST be involved in more hands. The only way to do that is to multi-table. There must even be a certain 'mystique' for many players. Ever notice how many cannot resist telling you in the chat box about how many other games they are playing, at which site, and how they are doing ?

Most multi-tablers online are relying heavily on HUD stats. They use that information almost exclusively to make their decisions and those statistics will pay off for them long term. They simply look at the stats of the players in the hand, use that to figure out their hand range and make their decisions based ont hat.

Spore, you state:

"They simply look at the stats of the players in the hand, use that to figure out their hand range and make their decisions based on that."

Are you saying that you can see stats for other players at the table? Is that a function of only pokerstars, or can you do that on most sites?

I play on full tilt myself, is it possible to view other players stats there?

Once I played the Matrix on FTP - four one table games at the same time - it was fast and furious - really to fast for me - every table that came active I had just enough time to bet and the next one was ready. All I could do is look at my cards - if I saw A, K, Q, I went all-in - really stupid betting. Except I won 3 of the four and came in second for the fourth. I don't care to play like that - I like to have a more normal poker experience like you have with one tournement at a time.

I like to play 3 tables at a time, so I have action. I regret it when I get bet off a good hand then watch the player pushing over and over with weak holdings. Paying more attention to 1 table is better for me, but it gets too boring. I did shut off the TV now, that helps alot

Good advice. I do not think thattrying to play more than one tourney or table for that matter is very productive. I know that lots of people do it successfully and good luck to them but for me it is one at a time.

If it works for you keep doing it.
If it doesn't, stop doing it and try something else.

Ok
I like a lot of tables up at a time.
But I will agree that if I only play at 4 at a time I Focus more Intensely and in turn place Higher.
Nothing wrong with enjoying the game 1 table at a time.

Good Luck at the Tables ....

It is not a function of the poker site. It is introduced by a number of programs run by the player that can be purchased, like HEM (HoldEm Manager).

Here's a link on Stars website that lists prohibited and approved programs. >> http://www.pokerstars.com/poker/room/prohibited/

Go over the list and google the product names. You can also search the threads right here. There is an abundance of info on such programs, how they are used, and various players'/members' results and recommendations.

i think i prefer 1 table at a time for tourneys. i played both of the freerolls(1st one was for 5k ub points the 2nd $50) i was doin well in the 1st till the 2nd 1 started. i ended up goin all in on the 2nd tourney because i felt like i lost my focus on the 1st tour. out of 5000 ppl i place 91st which i thought was pretty good for me.
