I just started playing online poker and already lost the 30$ I used on pokerstars (NLHE) :D with the last few cents I played Limit Holdem, where I won't lose too much too fast. If I'd load some money on my account again: Is it reasonable to play Limit Hold'em as beginner or won't I learn how to play no limit if I do so? And do you have any tips playing Limit?

Its all about the suck outs in limit poker.. It puts every hand in a position to be beat well after you flop best hand.. If you are just learning the game I would say limit is fine.. I like to play hands that have a chance to make str8 and flushes. pairs that make sets on flop.. thing to remember when call call calling is that you want to be taking money from the pot and not just throwing it back in there

I don't think so,there is just slower game nothing else.
Maybe you need to play other type of games or smaller buy ins.
But ok if you think you need this change wish you luck on limit tables :D

Try to avoid the cash table play tournament and if you go the cash tables are a waste of money

Hello,
I think you don't have enough experiece to start to play on real money now , and I suggest to you to play freerolls , and to start to practice on the visual money , and is better to read some books , and to watch videos, and to analyze your hands. Try to understand where you maked the mistake , and learn from your mistakes.
I want to tell to you you're on the right place if you want to learn with us. Be active at the forum , and try to learn here with us , and time by time you will understand much more about poker.

limited holdem and NL holdem are totally different games.

I play both, so I know it.

the big problem comes with betting size, so almost everything is changed from starting hand, esp bluff...etc.

Limit and no limit are two different games. In limit you can't bluff much because you can't bet enough to get anyone to fold. Therefore people chase right to the river. If your going to keep trying no limit try to keep track of the hands you are playing. You may need to tighten up some and play a smaller range of hands. Then if you start winning some hands and other players see this you can start bluffing and get away with it. Worth a try.:D:D

I've played lots of limit poker and have always felt that is why I'm effective and profitable in NL. Limit really shows your leaks, no shoving with trash and hope you get lucky. It also really shows how unprofitable it is to chase.

I would always recommend someone starting out to learn to beat limit and you will bloom in other games.

A friend of mine! You need to know to start a theory to build their line well and then take the top, otherwise a lot of water will flow away! My advice is to start with the theory!

you cant learn NL holdem strategy when start play Limit game, like was writen above thats different games, but you need to try it if you feel NL is not yours.
more after-flop action, less bluff :D

beginner can play it for learning how to play dro-hand after flop.

Poker is like medicine. It has several modalities and you must choose one to specialize. There is no way for you to be a cardiologist, an ophthalmologist, and a urologist at the same time. So, choose an area that pleases you more and go ahead. Lately they're preferring omaha, but I really like holdem.

Now that I look back at some hands I was playing when I started with limit holdem , I see how I was overplaying/overbetting AA , KK , on all streets and losing to some crappy hands , on NL it wouldn't happen . Or how I was overplaying crappy hands but I was never able to crack villains ' AA, KK with those as I was folding often on the flop , how many times I have seen or happenned to me JQo cracking AA .... I didn't have success so much with draws as I should have , I didn't know how to play right the limit edition of holdem . That'swhy I was only losing (but the sum I lost , sum smaller was the rake , so , ok ... no big deal:) ) .

What I want to say is , at the begenning , the best is to start with theory , the basics , I didn't unfortunatelly :( . Then , only if you know that limit and no limit are different kind of games , then try limit to exercise the bets , see with no much cost some hands , exercise the draw hands , set mines , more loose hands , 2 pairs , to know that this will be MORE usefull only in loose ocassions , freerolls with loose fishes especially at the beginning imo etc .

Knowing where to stop betting AA , KK postflop or even folding them on crazy boards , it won't cost them playing limit holdem , in contrast to NLH . Later , knowing the differences with no limit , having made advances in theory reading , they can try nlh , more expensive . Maybe before they can try playmoney to get used , to see some leaks , the donkey play of others (maybe try it to see the results ;) ) , the positions , with more buy-in in the play money sng is more decent the poker they play .

Some might say play money or limit holdem might learn some players some bad habits , to be more loose , mmmm . If they have studied theory before , if they know there are differencies between limit and plsy playmoney games for the reasons I explain , then no problem :)

Instead of limit holdem and later nl , sb can start with sng play money to see some hands/positions but not take them too seriously ;) and then play sng 0.10$ or 0.25$ , it's maybe even better to get used to the mechanism of poker play .

Oh really
good limited player have little pressure on how to play turn and river well.
I bet, a good NL holdem player VS a good limited player both play NL holdem, that Limited player is a looser for sure.

the only reason you think you are both profitable is not because you play limied well then automatically NL holdem will, it is because both game have some player you automatically beat.
