Now that I look back at some hands I was playing when I started with limit holdem , I see how I was overplaying/overbetting AA , KK , on all streets and losing to some crappy hands , on NL it wouldn't happen . Or how I was overplaying crappy hands but I was never able to crack villains ' AA, KK with those as I was folding often on the flop , how many times I have seen or happenned to me JQo cracking AA .... I didn't have success so much with draws as I should have , I didn't know how to play right the limit edition of holdem . That'swhy I was only losing (but the sum I lost , sum smaller was the rake , so , ok ... no big deal
) .
What I want to say is , at the begenning , the best is to start with theory , the basics , I didn't unfortunatelly
. Then , only if you know that limit and no limit are different kind of games , then try limit to exercise the bets , see with no much cost some hands , exercise the draw hands , set mines , more loose hands , 2 pairs , to know that this will be MORE usefull only in loose ocassions , freerolls with loose fishes especially at the beginning imo etc .
Knowing where to stop betting AA , KK postflop or even folding them on crazy boards , it won't cost them playing limit holdem , in contrast to NLH . Later , knowing the differences with no limit , having made advances in theory reading , they can try nlh , more expensive . Maybe before they can try playmoney to get used , to see some leaks , the donkey play of others (maybe try it to see the results
) , the positions , with more buy-in in the play money sng is more decent the poker they play .
Some might say play money or limit holdem might learn some players some bad habits , to be more loose , mmmm . If they have studied theory before , if they know there are differencies between limit and plsy playmoney games for the reasons I explain , then no problem
Instead of limit holdem and later nl , sb can start with sng play money to see some hands/positions but not take them too seriously
and then play sng 0.10$ or 0.25$ , it's maybe even better to get used to the mechanism of poker play .
