If it only works around 30% of the time then you're doing it right.
Just a little bit low

Any flush, nut or not, has the same odds or coming in, 9 out of 47 on the flop and 9 out of 46 on the turn. The never folding part is sketchy. If you are in a $1/$2 game heads up with $20 in the pot and $500 behind, what do you do when a tight villain bets $40 on the flop? Call $40 to win $60? That's not even close. If you can't fold there you have a problem.
