Hi everyone,

I recently picked up poker again after a small break. I decided to mainly play the Zoom-tables on pokerstars.

At first it went like a charm, but now after playing 25k hands on 2$NL my graph is going down a lot.

Usually I start off good each session (first 1k+ hands) with around 4-5 BIs winnings, but then I usually fall back down after some coolers.

I have realized there must be some sort of leak in my gameplay, since a 10k hand downswing can't be normal...

so here are some stats from HEM, and how can I use HEM optimally to improve my gameplay?

vpip: 16.2
pfr: 11.6
3bet: 4
wtsd%:25.5
w$sd%: 48
agg: 3.39
flop cb: 48.2
fold vs cb: 56.8

here's a link to my graph so you can see how it started going down:

thanks in advance

My own Zoom graph is way more swingy than that (less hands, admittedly) -- I think it's just the nature of the beast. Not hard to have a day where you're beaten continually by sets, set-over-set, or 2nd best made draws.

If those were my stats I'd think about opening up my 3-bet range some more, but I'm no expert...

In general....

1) Your PFR/VPIP ratio is low.
2) Your 3-bet is low.
3) Your c-bet is very low.

Yeah, your stats look like someone has told you to play tight, and you've figured that out. But you're still kinda clueless about the rest of poker.

Now stop worrying about your stats, and improve your game.

how many seats do you play?

Also your won at showdown is low for 2nl. You should be vbetting the best hand and not trying to bluff ppl off at that limit.

10k downsings are very normal. They will happen a lot and will be much longer too.

According to your graph youre making 8bb/100 which is a solid winrate. At 2nl however you can easily get higher than that. But its nothing to be concerned about. Your graph looks excellent.

Also losing to coolers is nothing to be worried about as long as its a true cooler. Stacking off with AA on 568 is usually not a cooler but a bad play. Just make sure your coolers are truly coolers otherwise you might be overvaluing your stronger hands in some situations and losing when you should be losing less or folding.

Keep up the good play and keep analyzing hem. Its a great tool.

You might want to pay closer attention to see how accurate you perception of starting well and then losing later on actually is. If it's happening more often and/or severely than it will due to normal variance, a likely explanation is that you tend to change up your game so as to sit on / defend your winnings.

You are going to need a lot larger sample size, but you should definitely take a look at Leak Buster. It will give you a good idea of where your leaks are, based on your stats, and then give you some pretty solid training content and advice to get you on track to correcting them.

Spot on. And 12BI downswings are standard, nothing to be alarmed about. Play enough and you'll eventually hit a 20-30BI downswing -- those are especially hard to take the first time, but are great for teaching you important lessons about variance, BRM, and self-analysis.

Aggression is king...

I don't think ur aggressive enough...
Aggression does a lot of gd things for you:
1. It represents a premium cards (even when you don't have them)
2. It keeps others bets down to a minimum (i.e. if they were going to 4bet A10 they won't if you lead out a 3 bet)
3. While others are guessing at your AK, JJ type hand you can usually get to the turn and see many more of your suck outs if you have KQs vs JJ, 10 10, 99 etc...)
4. Changing gears - You can't change gears well if your only playing premiums. Mix it up and they will overbet A 10 into you thinking you have KQs when you actually have AKs, AA, KK,QQ etc.
