Gohaku are you sure your looking at it right and not miss underestimating what it means to your game of course u could be right in what you said however I feel that using the chart helps improve my game even when I have to call all in with a hand to see the flop for example this is how I use it say I’m dealt A K off suit and one player goes all in ino that I have a 66% chance of winning with that hand or 6.8/10 So even tho you still don’t no what you’re opponent has and I still might lose however u no that you will win that hand 6.6/10 I guess what I’m trying to say is for me I use it as a guideline to improve my game and so far it is working well for me
You still have to take into account the villains possibly holdings in a given situation. Yes if you have AK suited you have a 68% change of winning but if v has AA or KK you don't actually have 68% of winning. I think the purposes of this chart is to get an understanding of how individual hands play if nothing else mattered but that's not how poker works. Poker is a game of layers and every move we make must take each of these layers into consideration.
Now in terms of your all-in example it you need to take into account stack sizes, position, player tendencies and your stats in this hand in addition to the AK win percent. Let's say that v is a short stack (5BB or less) shoving, then we know he's shoving super wide and than AK does have about a 68% change of winning. But what if v is in UTG with a decent stack size and is playing really TAG (PFR = 5% for an extreme example). In that sense AK is a 50-50 favorite to win. Don't get into the habit of over applying something, like a percent winning chart, as the golden rule for every situation. Start looking at the game as several pieces that make up a whole and use that chart as a tool to make the best decision possible when different situations come up. I'd recommend equilab for you so that you can start playing around with hands vs. ranges and see what I was talking about in your example.
