howdy folks.
Take this hand.
Hero has 7s8s and on the BB. Player from middle position raises bet to 60 and hero calls. Making the pot 130.
The flop is Kh10s3d. Villain checks and hero checks. Turn is 5s and villain bets $100. Pot odds are 230/100, roughly 2:1 on a call. Hitting the flush on the next card is 4:1. Villain is likely holding a K and hero is quite certain he will call a half pot size bet if the hero makes the flush on the river but is is good enough to realise not to call anymore. (A call is 230+100 = 330. 330/2 is 165.) Therefor implied odds approximate that 395/100 = implied odds of about 4:1. Should this be a fold considering that the implied odds are not too optimistic or greedy and even then it is still just 4:1 against 4:1 to make the flush? (Mathematically it's 3.95:1 so still just less than 4:1). If you think it justifies a call what was your calculations?
Thanks
