If you play with fear my friend, you will lose every time. When I started playing poker I thought I'd never learn it but as the time goes on you will get more comfortable to play.Good luck in your journey!

If you want to improve you need to study the game. Poker is complex and not an intuitive endeavor at all.

The only way to get better is like anything else - Practice and study. I strongly suggest reading Phil Hellmuth Play Poker like the Pros- and I promise your game will instantly improve. I went from always losing to consistent winning live sessions while studying this book.

Losing hands is part of the game. Even aces get cracked 19% of the time live and 59% online (ok maybe not)

I would recommend first reading reading Phil Gordon's little green book. It's an easy read and great way to get introduced to some basic poker concepts. Then if you are able to commit to reading, I would read the Harrington on Holdem series. Some say that its not as applicable to today's game but it will teach you some very important things, how to play disciplined tight poker which is a great starting point for any beginning player, and how to evaluate hands.

It can be intimidating at first playing online,,but like anything,as you gain experience and hopefully get better by studying/watching,,you`ll find yourself getting more n more relaxed, thus winning more hands, getting more chips, winning more $$$. Stay active so you can play our games, helping with your bankroll and playing against `better` players is helpful also, and we`ve been known to help `plug` holes in each other`s games,,,,:damnmate: Cheers!! :D

I would start playing at the lower stakes or even just the freerolls until you start feeling more comfortable with the game. It's too bad about losing with AA but that's part of poker, after all it's really just a pair.

I would suggest you to read articles that explain basics, you should have an idea what to do depending on your position, action before you or players behind you both preflop and postflop. And then try to practice what you learned, once you'll get into some problematic spots then you can dig that particular situation deeper.

You can come to some basic conclusions yourself by playing a lot but that will be just a waste of money and time, to learn really basic things by practice.

Good luck!

Where are you starting from? There is so much material now it can be quite confusing to get started with all the conflicting advice and different viewpoints. What games are you playing and what stakes?

Watch some twitch streamers and see how they handle themselves, read some books on theory and learn the math.

Online is more of a numbers game with risky hands mixed in. Live is more about the people you're up against and how you play what you have over the cards (not that they're not important). But one of the biggest things is, poker is poker. You're going to lose, get sucked out, flop the nuts and not get paid, play hands 'perfectly' and still lose.

Also - if you're talking about no deposit freerolls, take play in there like a grain of salt. They cannot and should not be compared to games where you have something real on the line, at least not till the final table/bubble and even then is meh. Use them to understand the game then move on to something that cost a bit to get into once you've got to the money on a good amount. Stay away from play chips. You'll only learn bad practices from there.

Other than that, just enjoy the learning. When you first start you learn something new every other hand. I found that fun.

At first, you need to concentrate your attention, strength and time on some kind of game (cache, MTT, SIT and GO ...) and sharpen your skills there. You also need to get acquainted with information on how to play one or another kind.

don't play on real money in the beginning. Freeroll helps you to try different playstyles. So find you way. And don't expect to earn money. just relax and enjoy the game.

If you are very upset, it's bad for you. Olivier Bousquet lost thousands of dollars just playing in a bad mood or drunk. In poker, no one can win forever. I hink reading books on psychology is useless. If you play very much, then you will be much calmer than anything.

You must play with a positive mind attitude, if you dwell on having your aces cracked then you will play negatively, and this is what you don't need in your game.

I know it sucks, especially when you played it correct, but in the long run if you carry on playing your A game you will come on out top. There are going to be a lot of downswings in your poker career and you will have to improve how you handle them, don't let tilt ruin all your good work!!

If you haven't already watch how the likes of Lex veldhuis, Spraggy and Kevin Martin play on twitch, you can learn a lot watching them. Also go to your library and see if they have any poker books there for you to get stuck in.

GL :)

So you can find your own style, you favourite game, what it will be? Mtt, sng or may be cash-games/zoom poker? You can listen to music while playing poker, so you can search your good mood for poker session. I advice you to play with excellent mood only.

Hi,

I'd say have a sheet with preflop ranges from all positions when you play. Stick to it religiously. When I tried it I improved a lot and found myself on the winning side more often than playing random cards.

Try the 'play money' first to get used to this. I find the 'play money' Sit and Go on pokerstars to be fairly realistic(not many all in players). GL
