Do you guys even bother playing if you're just not feeling it? Or do you step down in stakes? I was raised with the mentality to just do it regardless of whether or not I "feel good." I'm kinda questioning that line of thinking when it comes to something so mentally taxing, though.
Playing when you are feeling 'off', demotivated, uninspired , flat, tired, worn out etc is a total waste of time. Listen to what your mind and body is telling you !
Understand that if you play poker seriously (say 5 times a week), a session or a day is just one of 250 in a year. Your objective is to play
OPTIMUM poker, as consistently as you can. And to do it you need to balance your activities...
Rest, study, exercise and enjoyment are necessary ingredients for a well balanced approach to your play. Sitting activities are very bad for your health. Bad posture, no exercise, shut off in front of computer screen, isolated, is all crap. Being in a casino on a beautiful day, also takes it out of you.
If all you do is play, when you experience a bad run (and everyone will), you have nothing else to fall back on, so the feeling gets compounded.
The game is not a sprint. It's a long slog. It will teach you a lot about yourself, and you have to listen to your internal messages, and trust what they are telling you.
