Do you guys even bother playing if you're just not feeling it? Or do you step down in stakes? I was raised with the mentality to just do it regardless of whether or not I "feel good." I'm kinda questioning that line of thinking when it comes to something so mentally taxing, though.

I try not to play if I'm not feeling 100%. Chances are you won't play for A game and will just make mistakes.

I am selective on what I play when I am in that mood. Sometimes I will take time off though if it is prolonged.

When I first started playing I also had the mindset of playing regardless of how I felt. Although, I have learned that it is better to step away if I'm not "feeling it" at the time. Your attitude, emotions and fatigue does factor in with how you play and will cause you to make plays that you wouldn't normally do.

Yes, you should be careful when you are ''not in the mood''. However the goal is to make the right decisions and correct plays even when you are not feeling it. That's the difference between a great player and and average one.

only play when in the mood. You have to be concentrated and if not feeling well, you are not able to concentrate fully.

Watching for what purpose you sit down to play. It is very important that you feel well. That nothing distracted you from this game. And the most important is that you enjoy your game.:)

I agree with the previous posts mostly. It can be really detrimental if you are not into the game.

If I don't feel it, I don't play. There have been times I sat down and played one round, then got up. I just wasn't feeling it.

If you aren't feeling like you are your best, don't give your money away by playing your B game.

If I feel tired, then skip the game. If I have time to rest, I can properly play.

If you feel that you are not in the mood to play, then you don't. You will just get yourself into position that you will lose all your money. Play poker only when you feel that you are in the mood for it.

Playing when you are feeling 'off', demotivated, uninspired , flat, tired, worn out etc is a total waste of time. Listen to what your mind and body is telling you !

Understand that if you play poker seriously (say 5 times a week), a session or a day is just one of 250 in a year. Your objective is to play OPTIMUM poker, as consistently as you can. And to do it you need to balance your activities...

Rest, study, exercise and enjoyment are necessary ingredients for a well balanced approach to your play. Sitting activities are very bad for your health. Bad posture, no exercise, shut off in front of computer screen, isolated, is all crap. Being in a casino on a beautiful day, also takes it out of you.

If all you do is play, when you experience a bad run (and everyone will), you have nothing else to fall back on, so the feeling gets compounded.

The game is not a sprint. It's a long slog. It will teach you a lot about yourself, and you have to listen to your internal messages, and trust what they are telling you.

I either take the day off and keep my money.
Or lose and do the same thing with no money. Sometimes later in the day I will feel comfortable enough and play well.

 Exactly, that hand is a prime example of not knowing when to step away when tilting
