Silly question, but if your bankroll was $5, what would you play to try and increase it (new poker player who can't decide what to do with free $5 given to me for signing up on Carbon Poker). I'm thinking either a Micro $0.02/$0.04 NLHE or a 6-Max SnG for $1 or $2, I'd just hate to go and blow it all w/o any kind of plan, ty!

MICRO BRO. GO MICRO. or just play .screw it . take a chance on smaller values, you want to increase your chances, but to do that, your gonna have to gamble. its ok on a small wager.. the fear of losing 5.00 is nothing, you can approach it carefully, but thats too much time. and what happens when 5.00 is gone, your gonna be frustrated with the effort and time you put in . so i would say enjoy it and just have a great time.

I think the bankroll is not much I prefer to open two sit and gos 3 dollars and try to do something more than money and when you have something like 20 bucks and make them better than you'd think, just five dollars is not too much risk.

With 5 dollars I would play some single table sit and goes with 1.50 *2 which equals $3 then I would take the other 2 dollars and put it on two different cash game tables buying in for 1 buck on each table. Grind and pick your spots and you can easily build that up..

$1 double or nothing SNG's, this is if you really understand how to play very tight.
10 man table, 5 double up, 6 man table, 3 double up.
If you think playing AJ,or K10 sooooooted or low pocket pairs, out of position is playing tight, please ignore the above suggestion.
Good luck & remember, with that small a roll, losing it all, or doubling or tripling it, does not mean you are a bad player, neither does it mean you are Phil Ivey.
By the way if Carbon has lower buy in Double Up SNG's by all the means try them.

Zgaiba23, you could have just read the responses from my original post where you got this question from, wasn't a need to copy and paste it into your own forum :p

play 1 table of STT SNG and 1 table of 2NL Cash Game. Your 5$ will consist of 2 tickets of STT SNG (1.5$ each) and 2 cash games buy-ins (1$ each). Goodluck!

Carbon is running 42c sattys for the OPS so I would stick to the turbo 6 man games. 1st and 2nd pay $1.10 Coupons. 1500 starting chips not 300 Hyper Turbos

After that stick to Dbl Or Nothings and try to roll up

Goodluck!

Lowest available cash game, preferably with low buyin to artificially stretch number of buyins available (= better chance vs short term fluctuations).

$5 free from carbon, figuring out what to play

So just returned to online poker. Last time I was in PokerSchoolOnline years ago. So for the Carbon CC freeroll I have become a member but with the real need for learning not just one free one.(I shut down online when PSO did.) Yesterday (Monday) I was given $5 free money from carbon and played 02/04 nl and went up to $10 played $1.19/2.20 six nlhe hyper turbo. Up and down up and down. Well that tells me I need to know where on this site can I start learning so that never happens again. That five bucks made me spend twenty on Capt. Morgans. Peace and Thx, Known as Uhguggugg

well, there couldn't be a bigger difference between .02/.04 NLHE and 2.20 hyper turbos. They are quite possibly pure poker opposites.

you seemed to have done well at the micro cash tables. why not stay there a while? Surely, the variance will be lower. and hyper turbos, while fun, have the highest variance which a $5 bankroll can't tolerate. Either that or I'd say play some 1.10 SnGs

I'd say stay with the cash games.
You seem to have the concept down in cash games well.
I wouldn't spend my whole five dollars on sit and go's if I were you.
Plus it is way to expensive to be playing 1 dollar sit and go's with just 5 dollars.
Stick to your strengths and advance! :D

If I had 5.00 I would play micro tourneys like 25 cent 50 cent 6 seat I would also take .50c and play a gtd and than maybe a cash game for 1-2 cent. I for sure would not waste it the goal is to build it up

If there are tourneys for 10 c and lower them and I would play FL 2/4c.
For FL nano it is nearly ok BR.

I think playing microstakes is a mistake - the level of poker there is mind numbing, you will probably be playing multiple opponents more often which will increase your variance. I would play a couple freerolls a day and wait to play real money til you cash a freeroll. The more disciplined you are with your buy ins the more confidence you will develop. People who play over their heads tend to miss value because they are playing too tenatively.

Look for the lowest stake for cash or lowest buyin for tourneys.
