I see people moving chairs during breaks...

Let's say there's a very loose aggressive player at the table.
Do you want him to your left or right?
If he's to your left, he can always raise you.
Is it better that you're always after him (sitting to his left?)

What are some other common scenarios to watch for?

There is a whole theory about that (deep subject :)

Depends on your style, the type of game, your stack size, etc.

For example playing short stack in PLO there is a theory that you want a big stack maniac just to your left, so you can limp in with AAxx, have him raise, then you go all-in when it gets back around to you :)

Having LAGs to your left is a pain in the arse and it's normally better to have them to your right so you can act after them, but not immediate right, you want the fish sitting there.

Think I would want a LAG almost opposite me on the table ideally.

I personally like to be directly after the chip lead or an aggressively player. Sitting before them will result in a lot of blinds being stolen....unless you are willing to play toe to toe with them.

Great question. I suppose like everything else in poker, "it depends". Upon your playing style. I have nightmares (kidding) about L/A on my left, always jumping my bets. I want a L/A always to my right because I play a tighter game. His range is wider and I save a lot of chips when he is making a move with any two cards. Conversely, it's always delicious when he is OTB and he raises 5BB with his K5o and I can shove allin with my cowboys. Love love love that ;)

In tourney's, live or online, you get no choice of seat.

In cash ring games I want the agro to my right and the passive to my left. But in reality, with so few tables available it often (usually) isn't gonna work out that way as we end up taking the available seat.

I like to stay on the left of a big stack or a aggressive player just because I can raise them when I have a nice hand.

I do have choice of seat. The bottom line is you want the aggressive guy before you (to your right) and tight guy after you (to your left)

Being behind a lag player is usually the best because you can raise them when they call/bet, as opposed to being unable to steal from them in front.

I'm completely opposite. I prefer TAG's directly to my right. That way I can see what the action is and decide how to play based on what TAG does.

I want the fish next to me either side so I can whisper to him and tell him he's doing a good job

But seriously, I don't get to choose seat when live . If I could I would want him on my right, I don't know why, it just feels right to me

I want LA to my right so that I can reraise him if I have premium.
I want TA to my left so that I can bluff and steal some pots from him.

Chips are always flowing to the left, so I want the biggest chip stack on my right.
