Very addictive indeed. If you are having feelings that you would like to quit the game, be more specific with yourself about the reasons why you are quitting. The more specific and honest you can be with yourself, the easier the decision will become. This applies to many other areas of life, not just poker.

Good luck to you!

I think it is a nice game and nice occupation in my free time, but not an addiction. Whenever I could not play, for some reason, I continued whenever I could.:bike:

Treat poker for what it is...a game. Dont take it so serious, have fun. The quicker you realize you cant win everytime the better off you will be.

I play poker for 42 years and long ago I played without any criteria and lost a lot of money, over time I learned to control my impulses and today I play calmly and it would not even cross my mind to stop playing.

played 41-42 years lol 17 online super tough danny NG gave me advice maybe in 2007-2008 range to have a full life do not solely revolve life on the game see family take breaks holidays etc.. win reward self etc...
best advice i have ever received i do take a break almost yearly to recharge batteries etc... and do take time off every week a day or whatever....
im older now so sometimes its needed:)

key is this you want to be at your best sharpest as when it mattes the most:) so act accordingly for those times preparing yourself however you need to :) by a break by an ice cream ? doesnt matter.....

if your winning but cant stay awake yep you should sleep this is hardest one for sure.... sooner or later you will make a bad move and cost yourself imho

one thing though push as long as you can winstreaks dont always happen all the time

If you are slowly getting in problems which you think that can be solved by playing poker/gambling then you must stop it immediately. Gambling is not form for making yourself living, with poker you can make a good salary, but you must be fully committed on what your're doing. If poker is your only income then you should ask yourself, are you good enough to survive bad periods in life. If you are alone you can try what you think will works, but if you're with family behind you and poker is forcing you over the edge then stop now.

Getting addicted is a very bad thing to me cause it can take you to loose things that should not be lost, to me is the same as being on tilt. Good luck and be positive.

I feel like if I didnt have an amazing wife there to knock some sense into me sometimes I might get myself into some financial trouble. Yes, I do believe poker can be very addicting. It can also be a very fun, entertaining social environment. But it is still gambling so if you find yourself betting more money with the sole intention of winning, especially if it's to "win your money back", then you should definitely consider quitting and getting help. Or at the very least step away from the game momentarily and reassess your situation.

Remember poker is still a game and games are suppose to be played to have fun. If you arent having fun it may not be for you.

I think poker is like chess, with a pair of dice to decide who kills who. Weighted odds for the better pieces of course. Skill will bring you through in the long run, but man those dice can gouge you! Addictive for sure. I still get dopamine rushes or whatever they are when I win , after years of playing. But yeah, those comments about gambling issues - I never play beyond my means. I find whenever I really take a gamble more often than not I lose.

It can be addictive for sure. It is sad that some people lose their lives because of it. Is poker a bad thing? No I don't think so, I believe that as long as people respect it for what it is they will be just fine. Knowing your limits and not losing your cool and trying to show others up is a big part of that. I mostly play freerolls these days, and try to build up some savings to play in regular cash games. I have lost a few bucks in the past I wish I had back so I'm sure there are lots of others that feel the same way.

It can be addictive . Glad I play in a weekly pool league so it makes me take a break. Have family friends that have lost their homes because of gambling so that is a good reminder to also take breaks when you are having bad days.

Anything you do in life where you can't stop the urge to do so is a problem of addiction until work causes addiction

I use to say that poker is like that woman that you do everything to kiss her so she ingnores you amd when you ignores her she comes.
