So this is one of the hands I hand last night playing .02/.05 for the first time. I was a little nervous at the new level so I didn't play my best but work in progress right? Here's a hand that I'm curious about did I do the right thing here? I think I did but tell me if I'm wrong. I really had no read on villain as like I say first time playing at this level so villain was completely new.

missed C-bet

Yes u did shut down early. Since the table is 9 handed and u raised pre flop, there was little reason to give up on the flop.

(1)You could have c-bet on the flop and folded to a raise since u mentioned of having no read on the opponent. There are so many other ways to play this hand post flop. Remember there is no absolute right way. Or

(2)You could have simply check called the flop and check folded on the turn if villian bets again and if u missed the turn. but if you hit on any street you could have check called till the river.

(3)Another way is to check raise either on the flop, turn or river but ill advised in this situation since u have no read on the villian.

Good Luck next time and Gamble Responsibly :)

I think you shut down too soon. If he had a queen in his hand, he probably wouldn't have bet - at least I would have slow played the flop after you checked. You could have check-called, then led out on the turn, making him think you slow-played the queens.

Definitely cbet that thing.
Against such a weak bet, call and reevaluate on the turn.

Cbetting the flop is the superior option though.

Wait, the BB folded AKo pre to a 3x BB raise and a caller?

Yeah, you should continue bet on the flop.
Anyway, I would call on the flop and observe what will he do on the turn. If he still insists, I would give up and live for another day.

Thanks everyone I had a feeling that I should have kept playing this hand. I was thinking I should have 3 bet the flop. At least then I would have a better read if I did that and he went all in.

I'm just not sure at this level if people are playing what they are seeing (like the vast majority in .01/.02) or if there's more trapping going on at .02/.05

If you knew you weren't playing your best, you shouldn't have been playing.

Moving up isn't just a matter of having enough buyins. You also have to be emotionally / mentally able to play your A game.

Would you have cbet this flop at .01/.02? If so, then not doing so at 5nl means you were playing scared. Yes, you have to play at nl5 to desensitize yourself, but do it when you're able to control your fear enough to play your game.

Sound advice. Thanks for weighing in and you're right I think I'm going to step back down to increase my confidence a bit more. .01/.02 seems pretty easy at the moment but there are a few players that I'm having challenges with. I'll work on playing them a little more. And yes, I would have cbet, almost with out question.

Wow great cap off to a great question.
Nobody even mentioned the point about being ready for the change. This is even after leading off with that info in hand hx setup

Your preflop bet was good because you are attracting action..

This is up in the air really but if you were playing lets say 1/2 limit I would say he has a pocket pair over the 3, or has a Q... that's how I would personally bet it. Some people might say that I am scaring people off by doing so but the only way to get your value with a a Q there is if you bet because you just called in and the flop isn't helping anyone.

Don't feel like that is too much on your shoulders though.. poker is a continuous fight against yourself and others.. it never ends but the reward is so satisfying when it happens.. the knots literally melt away in your back.

So, keep at it and keep us in tune with your progress! Good Luck!
