Hey everyone, saw this forum thought i'd be able to ask a few questions here! :D
I've been playing poker on and off for maybe 3 years now, but the past month or so i've been playing daily, and teaching myself as well as utilizing the pokerstars online school. I play both live and online, even though I prefer live games I feel online is still good practice.

Today, online I came across a hand and I'm not sure what the normal play here would be.

I had 55, the flop revealed AAA. I was Heads-up. I raised, the opponent reraised, I called. We both ended up being all in.
Opponent had 66.

Now, I know you should never fold a fullhouse, but this one time, I'm curious... Was the right play to push all in? I mean, I lost anyway because the 55 is still a fairly low pair.
Should I have read this a bit better and assumed he had a higher pair, or even an ace? Or did I play this the way you normally would?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

There are many factors about playin your hand.....your stack, sie of blinds....but i probably just fold after reraise (if your raise was huge enough)

Definitely not a hand to shove with. Easy fold imo. There are many hands that beat you here.

I think there are a lot of factors you left out in your description like stack sizes position and type of game, be it a tourney or cash.

It's not a bad spot to get it all in here sometimes because obviously he doesn't have an ace almost ever here. Most likely he has overcards to your pair so getting it all in while your ahead isn't bad but like this time, with such a low pp there's going to be overpairs sometimes.

Depending on the size of he pot to your stack if this was a late stage tourney like I play I'm never folding 7's 8's or better unless he came off super strong pre. I'm either check raising all in if he was the aggressor pre, or I'm shoving over a rereaise or if the pot is already more than 1/3 of my stack I might open shove oop. If this was a cash game and your deep stacked I think that you could wait for a better spot because although your most likely ahead on the flop the turn and river are always bad for you.

I think you played it correctly until you got reraised. It is possible (but unlikely) that he was raising you without a pair. Even if he had KQ, would he have raised you hoping to catch one of these two cards (6 outs).

We were both short stacked. I was UTG he was UTG+1. It was a 6 player sit n go.

I had about 1500 chips he had about 1900, Big blind was aroudn 200 I think if I remember correctly.

Well since you had less than 10bb it's better to shove/fold preflop. If there were antes then maybe I'd shove the 5's utg if I was starting to feel desperate. But you could also have waited and shoved from the sb or button if it folded to you.

check out this thread and grab the book too. If SNG's are your game of choice this book will help you out a ton.

I agree on the shove preflop with that stack... still that was a small mistake as to AAA on the flop 55 it's a easy fold with that guy re-raise for me :) well now u know to not do the same mistake again in the future :p
