I'm in serious need of advice when it comes to position. also I would like to know if anyone has a solid method on taking notes on other players and designating what kind of player hey are. so far I sort players into groups depending on how long it takes them to decide over a few turns. but it only really helps me on a particular turn with novice players who are having troubles making their mind up. I don't feel it's that solid of a method to win a tournament. or cash games. any thoughts on this would really help:questionm

I try to take notes about how aggressive a player is, and what position they are in anytime they go to showdown and I get to see their pocket cards. Other times I find it hard to write anything useful about their play without tracking VPIP data.

In most of time ,in early stages of tournament there are many *njt so good* player that put all in or some nonsence raises in every hand and position....
so in early stage of tournament it doesnt work...
in cash games - in late position wit some midlle suited connectross , AK or midlle pocket pair 2-3 bet......more good pocket pair 3-4 bet...
in early position with good pocket pair raise or just call....

With regards to taking notes, you can assign color codes to each personality.

For position, you have to bear it mind all the time because in poker, position is everything.

You have to be patient and notice, usually when im early in a tourney I play tighter and focus on how im playing to conserve my chips. from there to the middle I usually play a tighter range of hand that hit the flop well and I feel I can value bet.

I wouldn't focus on reading people too much because I moderate table moving and having to start back with no information on your opponents (unless you have notes on them from previous tourney's but always remember notes are subject to change as people get better)

Aggressive opponents are pretty easy to notice through them raising and shoving consecutive hands.

You'll notice more passive players by isolating them post flop and notice how often they fold to post flop aggression more often than they should.

thanks for the posts i'm kinda new at this but im getting better I just started playing ring games and cash games and am really getting a head start. again not to sound feeble or something what should I do when I notice the more passive players. how can I use this knowledge to a clear advantage? and also any info on cash games for begginers I'm sure would help greatly. :musicus:
