I am taking poker seriously again, I want to rebuild my foundation from the ground up. There are dozens of recommended books, I am not sure how many are still recommended, and I often read that online sites like deucescracked can actually be more valuable.

What I would like to learn, are the essentials for online and live holdem. If someone can point me in the right direction that would help, I have seen in several of the books they focus on strategies that become outdated.

I need to review the math, the pot odds, how to play the odds, how to properly take notes on players, what to look for to take notes, bankroll management etc. I have very spotty education in these areas and would like to go through it thoroughly before I get back into the game. I have no problem grabbing some books, but the more I research which books are good, the more I see people saying to steer clear of the books because the strategies don't work anymore.

Any help is appreciated.

Review some poker podcasts and some sites like Poker Stars have online poker school classes your can take for free

If they are quality I will check them out, I am not looking necessarily for something free though, I want quality, and I want it to apply to today's game. I am so weary of going through videos only to see someone's strategy, not really a foundation, just strategies. I want to learn how to think properly, how to calculate the odds properly, stuff like that.
