Did I make the right fold?! ... or not
In my previous thread almost about 2
months ago ( http://www.cardschat.com/f57/cant-ge...g-fold-211833/
), I was contemplating of calling a big bet out of position because i have a feeling i am going to hit the flop hard. This time however-it happened last week, i was once again in a 3-6 NLHE cash up by about $452. I was at the button, when under the gun 2 went all in with $14 (obviously he was short stacked ), somebody called from the middle and i decided to call with a 8d10c and the blinds fold. The flop was 7h9h7d, villain bets 5BB. I was getting good pot odds
with my open ended though i was cautious with the pair on the board, i flat call. the turn is Jh. I hit my straight but there were 3 hearts already on the board. villain bets all-in with $447! I asked the dealer to count his chips while i was contemplating to call his bet or not. Villain is kind of a tricky player, but he always bet big on his good hands. I look for some tells
, but he noticed it, so he immediately told me to look in his eyes if he was bluffing! I decided to look for more tells so i open my card but didn't fold yet, i was trying to look for his reactions! the table got noisy..he mutters, you hit your straight so quickly! he was standing already by the way. after deliberating for some time, i muck my cards for these reasons:
1. i wasn't pot committed yet. I was already up by $400!
2. there is a pair on the board. he could have a full house!
3. he already has a flush or he could still hit his flush on the river.
4. the board was really really wet!
Then he showed his card- 7sQh.. the table erupted, a lot of murmurs and mutterings, like it was a bad fold and what not. the river was a 2h! bingo, i felt some relief! the table even got noisier, it was a riot..lol. some congratulated me, but there were some who still thinks that it was a bad fold, and continue to say that my move was only justified because the 2 of hearts hit the river! Even the villain was goading me to play some more hands- that i was super tight or what not- but i just kept my cool..i already state my reasons for folding a made hand, maybe it was really a bad fold or maybe not.. that is why i am asking for some inputs if what i did was the right one so that in case i encounter the same scenario in the future, i could do a different thing or still do what i just did.. sorry if this one is long, i have no one to share this one because most of my friends rarely plays poker.. Thank You for reading this.
