Sorry for your loss and that you didn't look into BRM before.
In case you now you are a (on average) winning player start with a maximum buy in of 0.5% of your bankroll.
Example:
- BR=200 -> max buy in =1
- play ten games with buy-in 1 and loose all -> BR=190 -> max buy-in= 0.95
After few hundred games: evalute the variance and performance.
Be very careful to increase your max buy-in.
Stay with 1 type of game until you get steady performance.
Try to find games that give you the optimum income per hour, buy-in and ROI are key variables.

Sorry to hear that. I really hope that you have so much money that 8k is nothing to you. If that's not the case, then you should take a closer look and be honest to yourself whether there might be some kind of gambling problem in the background because 8k is a lot of money to lose at once.

What stakes were you playing? Did you tilt? There are different approaches when it comes to bankroll management but my own rule has always been 30 buy-ins for each stake. Then it's hard to lose the whole bankroll at once unless you really go on a huge tilt-rampage.

So, in your case I would first make sure that it was only bad session with the wrong BRM, maybe little bit of tilt included, instead of a bigger gambling problem. Then I would start all over again with the correct BRM. Losing 8k also means that you probably have leaks in your game or at least in your mental game so little bit of study wouldn't hurt either. Actually you should always try to study the game more, even the best players in the world do that. Good luck to you in the future, try to stay away from losing 8k at once ;)

Take two weeks off.
Do not study about gambling or what you have lost.
During this period focus on what is important to you in life and find things in life that you are grateful.
Come back in two weeks and we will teach you all the Poker Skills and Bankroll Managment Skills you need.
It makes no sense trying to teach you anything right now becuase you are most likely going to "chase losses" and dig yourself into a bigger hole.

If you are rich it is your whims to lose such money,and if something else then gambling is not for you.If this is just a failure, then relax and read information about bankroll management...

Sorry to hear of your loss, I hope it was money you won before.
Besides the BRM formula above, you should set yourself strict limits (for losing AND winning) and follow your rules.
Everybody has days where nothing will go the right way and you don-t even hit a pair or the river turns your favorite hand again and again. I know it-s one of the hardest things to learn, but when you have been losing the last 3 hours, it will not get better in the 4th or 5th. Better take the money and go to a fancy restaurant or whatever you like and tell yourself that you don-t deserve crap like this. Enjoy the day and get back in a day or two!!!:heeeellll

Sounds like a "playing over your skill set" rather than a bankroll problem. Having more money doesn't translate into being a better player. Drop down a few levels.
