There are three ways to find someone to coach you:

(1) Through your family, friends, etc.
(2) Online, by establishing a presence, asking questions, tracking your play, asking other people for feedback, etc.
(3) Paying an expert. (Very expensive.)

Just asking online without any post history or whatsoever usually will not get you someone to coach you, unless you're really lucky. Just saying.

The less expensive answer would be to sign up for a coaching site. They would provide all the basics of setting yourself up to win. You would have access to tons of videos to watch and learn from.

If that route seems too expensive, you could always buy a couple poker books.

No need to hire a coach. Use forums, YouTube, Twith and all the other free tools out there for you to improve your game. Good Luck!

Hey,

Yeah it's unlikely you'll get somebody to coach you without paying for their services. I am not sure what level you are playing at, but there are cheaper methods to learn fast. There are some questions you need to ask yourself so you know what you want to learn:

1) What format of poker do you want to learn? (6-Max / Full-Ring / SNG / MTT / PLO etc)

2) What stakes are you going to start at (e.g. I'm going to be starting at the bottom - 2NL - which requires a different strategy to somebody playing 200NL)

3) What is the most effective of studying for you? (Books? Videos? Audiobooks? Forums?)

Send a reply and we can help with references to material out there. You've got the CardsChat forum to look and read up on hand histories and ask for advice. I can recommend channels on YouTube:

- PartTimePoker - Has content formerly from Grinderschool, a training site that focused on micro/small stakes poker.

- CardRunners, this was one of the leading training sites back in the day, again now on YouTube.

I'm looking to get back into poker so if you want anybody to chat about the game to, just send me a Direct Message and I'll help where I can :)

Some Pros are also Poker coachs. They teach for groups and individuals. Groups are cheaper. If you want a private class will probably pay more. But you can find it.
Check it online close to where you live. In Vegas for example you will probably find many Poker Courses.
Cheers,
M.D.

I disagree. all the great poker masters are self-taught. if a person wants to learn it - and for this teacher is not required - the experience does not convey it must go its own way. but there is a lot of information. how many have not read the book from pokerstars always come to the conclusion that what they write in books is about a finger in the sky in the percentage of luck + the ability to use it

Hello soklaf and welcome to Cardschat where you don't need to find one teacher because all you need to do is start posting the questions you want answers on, and that way you will find and have many teachers of you own if you want to look at it that way. There is more great information here than you could take in if you worked hard on your game for a non stop year, so get in there and make it your business to find what you are looking for. If you don't ask, no one knows you or your needs.Make yourself known and you will get to know many people you can depend on to give any help you ask for if they have it to give. I look at CC as a huge family, but each member is seen as a single part and needed as much as everyone else within the family.

First of all you have to take track of your posts, or you would never read the answers.2nd: ask and you will be given, lots of different levels of players here, but no poker answer will be unanswered. The force is with you :playingba

In case you are looking for something like an injection to be the best poker player tomorrow... let me know when you found it.
